Spotify is increasing its prices again which is good news for music rights holders. Spotify’s price hike last year came after most other global music streaming services, including Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music, had increased the prices of their subscription plans. In the US, for new users, the subscription price for Spotify’s flagship individual Premium tier is going up by $1 per month – to $11.99. Premium Duo will now cost $16.99 per month (up from $14.99). Premium Family now costs $19.99 per month (up from $16.99). Exactly 1 month ago, the band Five Finger Death Punch released an album called "After Life (Deluxe)". Since the release of the album, the bands Spotify monthly listeners have increased by 8% to over 7.33m monthly listeners. For this growth to continue, fan engagement is required. This is why the band is scheduled to perform at 49 concerts/festivals before year end. Some of those performances will be alongside Metallica which could further boost growth from fan crossover as Metallica has over 25 million monthly Spotify listeners. ASCAP has just released our 2023 Annual Report and saw an increases in every major revenue and distribution category. ASCAP delivered a record-breaking $1.737 billion in revenue in the 2023 calendar year, with $1.592 billion available for royalty distributions to music rights holders like the ICM Crescendo Music Royalty Fund. ASCAP’s record-breaking revenues of $1.737 billion in 2023 represent an increase of $215 million or 14.1% over 2022. ASCAP increased the value and monetization of its members’ music with domestic revenue from U.S.-licensed performances surpassing $1.327 billion which is an increase of $149 million or 12.6% over the prior year. In 2023, audio streaming revenue rose 21%, general licensing revenue rose 23%, radio revenue rose 10% and audio-visual revenue rose 3% as compared to 2022. Total foreign revenues for performances of ASCAP members’ work outside the U.S. were $410 million, up $66 million or 19.3% over the prior year. Since 2015, the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for Total Revenue through 2023 has increased to 7% for ASCAP, and the CAGR for Total Distributions over the same time period rose to 8%. #music #musicroyalties #musicbusiness #alternativeinvestments https://lnkd.in/gQDqu_TX

Spotify’s total number of Monthly Active Users grew 23% YoY to 602 million at the end of Q4 2023. SPOT’s net MAU additions of 28 million in Q4 contributed to record full-year net MAU additions of 113 million. Spotify said in its investor filing on Tuesday (February 6) that it saw “sustained double-digit YoY growth” in all regions and an “outperformance in Latin America and Rest of World”. July 2023 marked the first time in its 15-year history that Spotify increased its flagship subscription price point in several territories. Spotify generated €3.671 billion ($3.946bn) in total quarterly revenue (including Premium and ad-supported), which was up 20% YoY at constant currency. Spotify’s Ad-Supported Revenue in Q4 2023 was €501 million ($538.62m), up 17% YoY at Constant Currency, reflecting YoY growth “across all regions” according to SPOT’s investor presentation.
