On Wednesday November 27th (1pm ET/10am PT) join Benjamin McNamee & Richard Bartle-Tubbs, PSM (DARO), Cathy Barr, PhD (Imagine Canada), and Nathan Grasse (Carleton University) for a webinar to discuss how to address the nonprofit data deficit. The last 25 years of reports on the state of data in and about the nonprofit sector, from policy recommendations to sectoral data strategies, indicate the need for improved data quality, access, and use. They will reflect on key challenges, such as limited access to timely data, lack of sector-driven research capacity, insufficient collaboration between nonprofits and government, and uncoordinated policy development. They propose initial steps to tackle these challenges, including moving toward a federal home for nonprofits, emphasizing the federal data priority, enhancing sector leadership, and improving data provision through the creation of deeper, more meaningful datasets through linkages with other relevant data sources from across sectors. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with experts, explore solutions, and shape the future of nonprofit data. Register here: https://lnkd.in/gHJy6N98

Our study, Bridging Perspectives: Nonprofit Views on Corporate Social Impact in Canada, dives deep into nonprofit perspectives on corporate social impact and partnerships. With insights from over 900 Canadian nonprofits, the report covers sector-wide expectations for corporate practices and recognizes companies leading the way in social impact and collaboration. Some of the research highlights include: - Corporate partnerships: nonprofits value strong relationships with individuals (81%) and long-term corporate relationships (79%) significantly more than the total amount of financial support provided (49%). - Trust in companies: 70% of respondents cited moderate trust in companies to make communities better. This trust level varies by industry, and improves significantly among nonprofit professionals that receive corporate support. - Financial support: Receiving unrestricted, core, and multi-year financial support from their corporate partners was highlighted as a practice that has significant impact on a nonprofit organization’s ability to achieve their mission. Download the report now to gain a deeper understanding of cross-sectoral partnerships: https://buff.ly/4eHsSpX This study was made possible thanks to the ongoing, generous support of RBC Foundation, YourCause from Blackbaud, and our national partners.

A long-term postal strike will substantially hamper the sector’s fundraising results for 2024. We are encouraging Canadians to show their support for charities and nonprofits by donating money through alternative means, giving their time, and supporting social enterprises run by charities and nonprofits. Additionally, postal workers are essential to our country’s economic and social wellbeing, and we support their right to strike as a fundamental part of their efforts to secure fair working conditions. Imagine Canada encourages both Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers to engage in good faith negotiations toward a timely and fair resolution to this labour dispute.
