Imagine Canada’s Post

A long-term postal strike will substantially hamper the sector’s fundraising results for 2024. We are encouraging Canadians to show their support for charities and nonprofits by donating money through alternative means, giving their time, and supporting social enterprises run by charities and nonprofits. Additionally, postal workers are essential to our country’s economic and social wellbeing, and we support their right to strike as a fundamental part of their efforts to secure fair working conditions. Imagine Canada encourages both Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers to engage in good faith negotiations toward a timely and fair resolution to this labour dispute.

This is an important issue to bring forward in an already demanding and challenging fundraising environment. Not only is it the donations we rely on to fund our missions, it is how we communicate with our donors to thank them, provide tax receipts, and let them know the impact of their generosity. Back up plans and efforts take more resources, having a compounding impact.

Our Annual Appeal is sitting printed with stamps on the envelopes, waiting to mail. Critical for us to connect with our donors.

This is very important as Christmas is such a giving time of year. Helping charities promote other methods such as e transfers and Pay Pal are good options. Caution is important
