What an incredible journey (all of six months) co-designing and co-facilitating with Evenings & Weekends Consulting, five powerful, anti-Black racism workshops for 100+ Algonquin College People Leaders the last couple of weeks! So much excavating, shared learning, knowledge-exchanges, and rich relationship-building. Each four-hour workshop laid a solid foundation on which to continue building, both individually and collectively. Grateful and excited to see where these post-secondary institution leaders take their anti-Black racism learning and unlearning journey. Our senior leadership has completed their Cape Breton Regional Municipality learning journey. Now, our Director of Strategic Initiatives & Partnerships, Kjeld Mizpah C., aims to expand our research, community engagement, and ideation in rural communities. We want to explore the correlation between community resilience, economic development, and strategic foresight in rural coastal communities.

What happens when you bring together a group of 23 African Nova Scotian youth, give them a solid grounding in Nguzo Saba principles, along with design thinking and other social innovation training, a microgrant and mentoring, and ask them to create a project to help their communities?
