Pairing sustainability and long-term growth

About us

The Investor Leadership Network was launched in 2018 to facilitate and accelerate collaboration by leading global investors on key issues related to sustainability and long-term growth. Operating as an open and collaborative platform, with a focus on concrete initiatives under the leadership of member investors, the ILN benefits from the participation and support of various partners, including the government of Canada and multilateral institutions. The creation of the Network is a direct outcome of Canada’s 2018 presidency of the G7. Adhesion to the ILN and the potential scope of its initiative are designed to be global. A sincere thank you to Consul General Tom Clark for hosting us at the Canadian Consulate for our "Transition Finance Forum". It was a privilege to hear from our panelists—Michael Kelly, Nazmeera Moola, Bertrand Millot, and Laura Kaliszewski—as they explored the role of transition finance in advancing net-zero goals. A special thank you to Neil Britto for all his support in making this event a reality. We were also proud to showcase our newly released Best Practices in Blended Finance at SIRI's Blended Finance Conference. This playbook highlights 13 innovative solutions and 3 supporting initiatives aimed at mobilizing private capital at scale to meet global climate and sustainability objectives. One of the standout moments of the week was receiving the Best Bankable Donor NDC Investment Initiative of the Year Award alongside U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA). Reflecting on New York Climate Week 2024 It was a privilege to connect with so many of our members, partners, and friends dedicated to addressing the climate crisis. I was honored to speak at: SMIAC Investable Asset Classes Working Group & GEMs3.0 Investor and Philanthropy Consultation: We discussed the increasing need to mobilize capital for emerging markets, addressing the $4 trillion annual investment gap required to meet the SDGs and Paris Agreement targets. GEMs data plays a critical role in mitigating perceived risks and unlocking institutional capital. Climate Week NYC Gates Foundation & McKinsey Global Institute Roundtable: I had the privilege of participating in this closed-door, cross-sector roundtable, focused on scaling effective investment in climate adaptation and resilience. SIRI Blended Finance Conference: I had the pleasure of discussing blended finance and the ILN and SMI's recent release of our Best Practices in Blended Finance. These case studies highlight innovative approaches for mobilizing private capital for sustainability-focused investments. ILN Transition Finance Forum at the Canadian Consulate: A sincere thank you to Consul General Tom Clark for hosting us, and to panelists Michael Kelly, Nazmeera Moola, Bertrand Millot, and Laura Kaliszewski as we explored the role of transition finance in achieving net-zero goals. Sustainable Investment Forum: I had the opportunity to join the Sustainable Investment Forum's incredible program alongside Sergio Gusmão Suchodolski, Lori Kerr, and Anthony Hobley to discuss the mobilization of private capital to scale climate investments in emerging markets. B20 Brasil Finance and Infrastructure Task Force Working Breakfast: I had the pleasure of participating in a special working breakfast event held on the sidelines of the Annual Sustainable Markets Initiative CEO Summit in New York City. Organized in partnership with SMI, the event brought together high-level representatives from both the public and private sectors to discuss how to accelerate public-private collaboration for investment in resilient, net-zero economies. SMI CEO Summit & Blended Finance Roundtable: To close the week, I participated in a roundtable discussion with Marc-Andre Blanchard, Lori Kerr, and Hendrik du Toit on the challenges and opportunities facing the global financial system as we scale investments toward sustainable development goals, particularly through blended finance. A highlight of the week was accepting the Best Bankable Donor NDC Investment Initiative of the Year Award with USTDA Chief of Staff Thamar E. H.. This recognition underscores the power of collaboration and innovation in mobilizing climate finance. A sincere thank you to everyone who supported and joined us during this impactful week to make meaningful progress toward a more sustainable and inclusive future.
