  • We welcome Dr. @Rosemary Ricciardelli as the newest member of the CEC! Dr. Ricciardelli is Professor and Research Chair in Safety, Security, and Wellness, at Memorial University of Newfoundland, and multiple award winner whose research centers on different facets of the public safety systems. About the CEC In the April 2021 edition of the The Dispatch, JCSWB announced a decision to modify its existing editorial structure and introduced the concept of the Contributing Editor Community (CEC). This more open structure enables the Journal to build on the strengths and demonstrated commitment of our original editorial team as we set out to include a wider, more global, and more diverse range of suitable Editors. In turn, the CEC structure offers a more flexible structure to attract contributing Authors and their works that shape each Journal issue, and recognize and tap into a worldwide network of qualified Reviewers to ensure the continuing excellence of our published selections. • Today, we remember the tragic events of December 6, 1989, when 14 women lost their lives in an act of gender-based violence at École Polytechnique in Montreal. These young women, full of promise and potential, were targeted simply because they were women pursuing careers in engineering—a devastating reminder of the dangers of sexism and hatred. This day is not only a time for reflection but also a call to action. Gender-based violence remains a pervasive issue in our society. Whether it’s through advocacy, education, or supporting those affected, we all have a role to play in building a safer, more equitable world. Let’s honor the memory of these 14 women by continuing the fight for gender equality, challenging systemic discrimination, and standing up against violence in all its forms. We cannot change the past, but we can work toward a future where tragedies like this no longer happen. #ÉcolePolytechnique #RememberDecember6 #GenderEquality #EndViolence #NeverForget
