It causes a progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain leading to the deterioration of a person’s physical, mental, and emotional abilities. Every month is an important time to raise awareness about Huntington’s disease, there is a focus and concentrated effort to educate people, break down stigma, support and bring hope to people with H.D. and families. World Diabetes Day (WDD) is the primary global awareness campaign focusing on diabetes mellitus. WDD is led by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and each World Diabetes Day focuses on a theme related to diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is a largely preventable and treatable non-communicable disease that is rapidly increasing in numbers worldwide. Type 1 diabetes is not preventable but can be managed with insulin injections. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that’s triggered when patient eat gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, and other grains. The condition is also known as celiac sprue, nontropical sprue, or gluten-sensitive enteropathy. When someone with celiac disease eats or drinks something that contains gluten, the body overreacts to the protein. This damages their villi, small finger-like projections found along the wall of the small intestine. When villi are injured, small intestine can’t properly absorb nutrients from food. Eventually, this can lead to malnourishment and potentially to symptoms ranging from weakened bones to mood changes to miscarriage. Anemia is a blood disorder that happens when patient don’t have enough red blood cells or red blood cells don’t work. Some types of anemia are inherited, but people may also acquire or develop the condition during their lifetimes. Anemia can affect life in different ways. Some types of this condition have mild symptoms that ease with treatment. Other types are more serious, like some that people inherit that cause lifelong medical issues. Severe anemia can be life-threatening. This condition may also be a symptom of serious conditions like cancer. Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance that the body needs for good health, but in the right amounts. Lipoproteins are small, round particles made of lipids (fats) and proteins. These particles carry cholesterol in the blood and throughout the body. Two types of lipoproteins include: Low-density lipoprotein (LDL), sometimes called “bad” cholesterol High-density lipoprotein (HDL), sometimes called “good” cholesterol High levels of “bad” LDL cholesterol may create a buildup of plaque (fatty deposits) in the arteries. This buildup can lead to a heart attack, stroke, or other health problems. High levels of “good” HDL cholesterol may lower risk for health problems. HDL cholesterol carries cholesterol and plaque to the liver to be flushed out of the body. Hepatitis B is a viral infection that affects liver. It causes inflammation in the liver tissues, which is what “hepatitis” means. It begins as an acute infection that’s usually short-lived. But in some people, it turns into a chronic infection that never goes away. Long-term inflammation does serious damage the liver over time. It can lead to cirrhosis and liver failure. Like other chronic liver diseases, hepatitis B infection can do this damage without causing symptoms. Many people don’t realize they’re infected. Clinical cardiac electrophysiology, is a branch of the medical specialty of cardiology concerned with the study and treatment of rhythm disorders of the heart. Cardiologists with expertise in this area are usually referred to as electrophysiologists. Electrophysiologists are trained in the mechanism, function, and performance of the electrical activities of the heart. Electrophysiologists work closely with other cardiologists and cardiac surgeons to assist or guide therapy for heart rhythm disturbances (arrhythmias). Anaphylaxis, also called allergic or anaphylactic shock, is a sudden, severe and life-threatening allergic reaction that involves the whole body. The reaction is marked by constriction of the airways, leading to difficulty breathing. Swelling of the throat may block the airway in severe cases. Gastrointestinal symptoms, such as severe abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea, may also occur. Histamines, the substances released by the body during an allergic reaction, cause the blood vessels to expand, which in turn causes a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
