Newest Podcast Episode with Charbel Daniel, CEO of Northwood group of organization is 'On-Air' now. Northwood has been providing long term care and home based care for a long long time. These services are financed by Canadian state, written into the Province's budget. Inadequate and in high demand as much as those are, Northwood is one of several organizations in Nova Scotia providing those services to our elderly and the aging. But, interestingly, Northwood also offers affordable housing in HRM region - 400+ units, as amazingly affordable rents. And, does so in a fashion that does not seek grants, but manages to run a surplus budget - by operating it both efficiently and effectively. The families renting with Northwood may pay up to $1000 less than what they may pay in open market! So how does Northwood runs this amazing social enterprise completely relying on their enterprise revenue, what are the motivations to do so, what kind of people work at Northwood, what kind of social impact this social enterprise is creating and hopes to expand even further? What made Charbel join Northwood's amazing team? Listen to this authentic, from the heart conversation that Matt and Anuj had with Charbel, learning about yet another amazing social enterprise of Nova Scotia. A very different approach than say what Ron Lovett and VIDA is doing with that disruptive enterprise, but establishing an equally compelling and cool, disruptive business model. Affordable housing solutions do not have to be held hostage to grants and charity, a social enterprise approach can indeed be part of the systemic solution solving housing and affordability challenges! This will be our third podcast of housing sector in season II, Blue House Energy and Shawna Henderson being the other one who came as a guest in episode 3. Enjoy yet another amazing enterprise story - creating prosperity beyond profits!
