The Vaughan Chamber of Commerce recently hosted the 15th Women to Women Symposium, featuring our very own Dr. Olamide Sobowale, Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Medical Director of the Woman and Child Program at Mackenzie Health. Dr. Sobowale participated as a panelist and shared her expertise on women’s health issues including how women can be their own best advocates as they experience transitions from fertility to pregnancy to menopause and beyond. A heartfelt thank you to Andrea Degasparis-Roncon, Women to Women Chair, Jennifer Coletta Rashty, President & CEO of the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce, and everyone who participated in the centerpiece raffle, raising over $9,500 to support the Woman and Child Program at Mackenzie Health. We are grateful for your support!

Each year, we invite our staff and community to submit nominations for our Kudos Awards. The awards recognize the remarkable contributions of our team in caring for our community. We are incredibly proud of Vince from our clinical informatics team, who received the Innovation Award for his exceptional work in building and optimizing workflows for our stroke team. Vince’s innovations have significantly streamlined the care provided to stroke patients, making their journey more efficient and improving outcomes. “Before joining the clinical informatics team, I was a nurse,” Vince shares. “Even though I’ve transitioned to the technology side of the hospital, I’m always thinking about my colleagues on the front lines and how I can make their jobs easier.” Thank you for always being there to support our staff and make the care they provide our patients even better. Congratulations on your well-earned Kudos! At Mackenzie Health, we know that better integrated care in our community means better care for our patients. Today, our Nurse-Led Outreach Team (NLOT) held our first workshop and skills day for health care professionals from 10 local long-term care homes. The event featured educational sessions, presentations and more, focused on advancing the skills of long-term care staff. We’re helping to ensure patients receive care in the most appropriate setting and enjoy smoother transitions between health care providers. Thank you to all attendees and our outreach and professional practice teams for making this event such a success.
