This hands-on practicum, co-facilitated by a Patient/Public Partner, provides practical advice, resources, and opportunities for networking and discussion on patient engagement in the Maritimes. Our content helps participants take the first steps in patient engagement in research. Topics may include: recruiting for diversity, creating welcoming inclusive spaces, navigating power dynamics, considerations for engaging people who have experienced inequities, and trauma-informed engagement practices. Patient partners bring so much more than lived experience to research teams—they bring skills, creativity, and fresh perspectives. 💡 In a #NB study evaluating a new care model for rural breast surgery patients, patient partners raised awareness of challenges patients face post- breast surgery and helped secure the support needed to expand the program across the province.
