Patient partners bring so much more than lived experience to research teams—they bring skills, creativity, and fresh perspectives. 💡 In a #NB study evaluating a new care model for rural breast surgery patients, patient partners raised awareness of challenges patients face post- breast surgery and helped secure the support needed to expand the program across the province. Their persistence made a real difference. Learn more in our Report to Community: https://bit.ly/4goSA4n

Mental health is a top priority in New Brunswick and we are proud to support this research at NB Institute for Research, Data and Training that aims to find better ways to support mental health in communities affected by floods.
Today is #WiredforDataWednesday, and we’re exploring a study on how climate change is making floods more frequent and severe, with impacts beyond physical damage. 🌍 Led by Dr. Sandra Magalhaes, the study was supported with funding from the GNB Climate Change Fund and was also supported by the Maritime SPOR SUPPORT Unit. This research reveals how flood exposure can lead to mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, and PTSD—impacts often overlooked but crucial for community well-being. 🌊 These findings offer key insights for directing resources and suggest areas for future research, such as emergency department visits and long-term antidepressant use. 🚑 ⭐ This research aims to improve mental health interventions in flood-affected communities. 🌍 🌐 Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gxSAJWUP
