Meetings - 90% of them are a complete waste of time. Too many people slap a meeting in the calendar without any context as to what it's about. ❌ There's no preparation. ❌ The meeting is unproductive. ❌ The meeting ends with no result. ❌ Resulting in another meeting. How do you avoid wasting time in meetings? ✅ Set boundaries. ✅ No agenda? No attendance. Decline! ✅ Provide context in the meeting invite. Emails are a waste of time. It can be the worst tool for leaders and managers. The best leaders are finding alternative effective ways to communicate. Emails are a distraction and pull your attention away from your team. Your day begins with email prioritization, and before you know it, you're competing with yourself to get your inbox to 0. Unrealistic. Not sustainable. Don't let your inbox take you away from what matters most: your team. The solution: identify the appropriate communication method for your goals, projects and tasks. You need a communication system that works for you, not against you. Projects: 〰 Log and host your communication in the system you use for projects. 〰 This reduces saving and filing emails - huge time suck. Tasks: 〰 Use a task manager application to navigate through your workload. 〰 Take the tasks out of your inbox. Questions: 〰 When stuck on a something, don't send an email to request help or gain context. 〰 Walk over to the individual's desk, call them, send them an instant message. 〰 Let's be productive. The most underutilized tool: the Kanban board for task management. Request in - Request Out. Simple. A new way to do work and eliminate emails. The concept: a way of overseeing work progression with a strong emphasis on continuous enhancement, aiming to boost productivity and efficiency without overwhelming the team. This can be used within your team, or just for yourself.
