Business Representative at Millwright Local 1425 Sudbury

Local 1425 apprentices are always eager and ready for their next task, and always supportive of the union and the standards we hold ourselves too. Our apprentice meetings give the apprentices opportunity to discuss new training ideas and also allow the union to be proactive with the apprentice needs and wants. Training and education is always a top priority so whenever members or apprentices meet to discuss new ideas regarding these topics, it’s a success for all who are involved. Special thanks to Allysa Focht for being part of our apprentice meeting and addressing the apprentices on programs available to help members navigate through their apprenticeship with aids made available through the millwright regional council.

Passionate about fostering belonging, inclusion, bridging and opportunity in the trades by recruiting, supporting, and retaining individuals to ensure equitable access and a pathway to success for all.

🚨 Exciting News! Introducing the 18-Month SIB Leading the Way Program! Our inaugural session of the 18-Month SIB Leading the Way Program has kicked off with a bang, marking a significant milestone in our journey! Participants immersed themselves in a transformative experience over three dynamic days, emerging as empowered, self-aware leaders poised to excel not only within the union but across all aspects of life. Here’s a glimpse of our achievements: ✨ Delved into Self-Awareness through avenues like Emotional Intelligence, MBTI Step II, Stress Management, Strength Finders, and the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire. ✨ Mastered the art of fostering high-performing, inclusive teams by honing our understanding of self and others. ✨ Acquired invaluable insights from Tiffany Grimes in her session on “The Power of Intention,” exploring the neuroscience of change, resilience, and more! Beyond the tools acquired, this program fostered deep connections and personal growth. The level of engagement, authenticity, and mutual support was truly remarkable, defining the essence of our impactful journey. Hats off to our International SIB Reps and our SIB Appointed Regional Points of Contact who embraced this opportunity to lead and evolve. Your commitment sets the stage for a brighter future within the union and the trades. Let’s sustain this momentum together as we continue to craft something exceptional! 💪💙 #SIBLeadingTheWay #Leadership #UnionProud #EmpoweredLeaders

    Millwright Apprentice LU1916 🔧⚙️

I had the privilege of attending a very special announcement on Wednesday, where Sisters in the Brotherhood was named a recipient of funding from Women and Gender Equality Canada, as part of the Honourable Marci Ien’s unveiling of $40 million in support for 170 women’s and Indigenous women’s organizations across Canada. The event took place at the Carpenters Local 27 Training Facility, which was such an incredible space! It was great to see the dedication to empowering workers and creating opportunities for growth 🛠️ I was especially grateful to share the day with some amazing millwrights— sisters Linda, Kelly and Hannah out of Local 2309 and sister Leah out of 1916. We were all extremely proud to be able to represent the local sisters out of the Millwright Regional Council. Having their support is truly invaluable. I also had the pleasure of connecting with some wonderful carpenter sisters, sharing stories, advice, and just enjoying each other's company. It is moments like these that remind me how important it is to lift each other up, both professionally and personally. 👩🏭 👷♀️ 👩🔧 Here’s to supporting each other, celebrating our accomplishments, and continuing to break down barriers for women in the trades! 💪✨ #WomenInTrades #Sisterhood #Empowerment #BreakingBarriers #Tradeswomen #WomenInConstruction
