Had a fantastic time at the United for Change: Connecting Diversity, Equity, and the SDGs event hosted by Skills for Change this past Saturday! I was honored to be part of a panel discussion on “Navigating the Green Economy: Pathways to Youth Careers in Sustainability” alongside the amazing Faizan Ahmed and Miranda Baksh, M.E.S. A special shoutout to our moderator, Nya Lazarus-Munnick, for her excellent facilitation! It was so joyful to have our Master of Science in Sustainability Management Program rockstars on the panel! I was particularly inspired by Miranda's work in bringing the Community Climate Council to life. I was in awe to see such dedication to creating a more sustainable future. I also loved leading a workshop on managing burnout for climate professionals. We explored the key causes of climate burnout, human sustainability, and the importance of understanding the four stages of nervous system dysregulation (flight, fight, freeze, and fawn). This work is so meaningful, and I’m grateful to share my passion for deep nervous system and somatic work with such a receptive audience. A huge thank you to Linnet Kocheril for the opportunity and to everyone who came out to support! Your encouragement, warm hugs, and smiles made the day even more special. Many thanks to my friend Jenée Dionisio for capturing these moments!

#BreakingNews 📣 The latest Carbon Emissions Inventory is live and shows that total emissions increased across all six regions of the #GTHA for the third consecutive year. While a 2% total increase may seem marginal, the annual emissions reduction needed—now 11%—gets steeper, putting 2030 targets further out of reach. The overall news is discouraging, but the data highlights progress in some areas. More efficient buildings are making an impact, and #cycling, #walking, and #transit use are on the rise. Bending the curve is still possible, and we outline the transformative high-impact policies that can get us to our climate targets. This report also shows that while electricity consumption decreased, electricity emissions continue to rise driven by increasing carbon intensity of the provincial #grid, an alarming trend that emphasizes the urgent need to accelerate clean energy solutions and transition away from fossil fuels. Explore this year’s inventory as we break down emissions data, including new city-level data, share resources, and offer policy recommendations: https://lnkd.in/gskfnpaR    #CarbonEmissions #Report #EnergyEfficiency #ActiveTransportation #Decarbonization #ClimateAction #CleanEnergy #Policy #EmissionsReport

We can not afford to sacrifice more nature for concrete. Point.Blank.Periodtt. As a young person, I think about the future a lot. This concept of intergenerational justice - who is going to bear the burden of today's decisions? The world is shifting to one that recognises the value of public transit, active transportation, and safe, complete, walkable streets. Will ONTARIO be left behind??! Like many of you, I too have a health story. It is a story of long emergency room waiting times, low capacity staff, and hallway healthcare. Late last year, I started showing symptoms of tuberculosis after being in contact with a close relative. As I walked into my local hospital emergency department, the first thing I noticed were these shiny, techy, self-service kiosks. I thought to myself, wow, surely this must mean an efficient, relatively quick process. Little did I know... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Sunday, I responded to a call to be a youth speaker at the Mississauga Climate Action rally, concerning the divestment from destructive highways to better public healthcare. I stood in solidarity with an amazing, diverse group of environmentalists and healthcare enthusiasts alike - Grandmothers Act to Save the Planet, Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment (CAPE), and Seniors for Climate Action! I represented the Community Climate Council, a youth-led non-profit advocating for community-driven climate action. We sang 🎶, heard from experts 🩺, shared our stories 💭, ate fresh apples 🍎, and walked to the office of a Member of Parliament 🏛️. Dear readers, I urge you to keep signing those petitions. Keep writing letters to your MPs. Keep putting up lawn signs. Keep engaging on social media. Keep talking to our schools. Special thanks to Susan berry and Miranda Baksh, M.E.S for boosting my confidence in activism 📢 Learn more at: 🌐https://lnkd.in/gRSWWGCU

  • Brampton's healthcare system is facing a crisis 🚨. An NGO report reveals that residents experience some of the longest waits for essential services in Ontario. Over 60% of Brampton residents say access to family doctors and specialists has gotten worse in the last five years 🏥📉. The Brampton Health Coalition is calling for urgent action and more funding, but instead, our Premier plans to spend billions on unnecessary highways 🚗💸. ❗️It's time to prioritize healthcare! Take action at StopHwy413.ca and share your story.  Find a rally happening near you, sign a petition, and an open letter to local MPPs here: https://lnkd.in/gcg3ykxh. 🗓️ Join our digital day of action on Sept 14!  #HealthcareCrisis #FundHealthcareNow #BramptonNeedsMoreBeds #SupportOurDoctors #StopHwy413 #BramptonStrong #HealthcareForAll #OntarioHealthcare #WeNeedChange #TakeAction

  • Brampton's health is already at risk due to air pollution from nearby highways, leading to rising cases of respiratory illnesses like asthma 😷 🚗💨. Yet, our Premier plans to invest billions in building more highways instead of addressing the $39 million annual healthcare funding gap that leaves us with fewer beds, doctors, and longer wait times. We need better healthcare, not more highways! Take action today and help us fight for a healthier future. Visit StopHwy413.ca and share your story.  ❗️ Take action and find a rally happening near you, sign a petition, and an open letter to local MPPs here: https://lnkd.in/gcg3ykxh Join our digital day of action on Sept 14 🗓️!  #StopHwy413 #FundHealthcareNow #BramptonDeservesBetter #HealthyBrampton #AirPollutionCrisis #HealthcareForAll #TakeAction #OntarioHealthcare #BramptonStrong

With only 0.9 hospital beds per 1,000 residents compared to the provincial average of 2.3 , long ER wait times and overburdened facilities are the harsh reality ⏳🏥.  It’s time to prioritize healthcare funding to ensure Brampton residents receive the care they deserve.
