We’re feeling the strain with so many vacancies and so few resources. With 83% of community health organizations reporting longer wait times due to staff shortages, we need action. It’s time to close the wage gap. #forusforyou

Ontario’s social workers provide support and guidance to Ontarians in need. Yet, their wages don’t reflect their value. Let’s work together to close the wage gap and protect access to community services for Ontarians. #forusforyou

Last week, many of our departments and teams had Holiday parties to celebrate the season. Below are some pictures from the Community Development Services (CDS) party. These parties are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our successes, connect with our colleagues, eat delicious food, and have fun. They are always a highlight during what can be a stressful and hectic time. Thank you to all the individuals across our organization who took the time to plan and execute these parties. Your commitment to creating a healthy and inclusive workplace is greatly valued and appreciated. #holidaycheer #holidayseason #gettogethers #communitydevelopment

This is wonderful news for Somerset West Community Health Centre!
We are excited to learn that Somerset West Community Health Centre (SWCHC) will receive an investment of $1.05 million over three years to support community safety initiatives, as announced in an Ontario Government news release. This investment is a part of a new deal between the City and the Province, to revitalize Ottawa’s downtown. As a result of this investment, SWCHC will enhance community safety by offering meaningful support for people experiencing homelessness, substance use and/or mental health challenges. Services will include peer outreach, wraparound support, systems navigation, overdose reversal and prevention, community cleaning, capacity building and job-skills training. At Somerset West Community Health Centre, we are committed to the health and well-being of our community. We believe everyone deserves access to trauma-informed and culturally responsive healthcare. We serve a diversity of communities living with a range of overlapping issues, including poverty, homelessness, substance use and mental health challenges. We look forward to working alongside the Province and the City in our efforts to support community safety and well-being. We extend our gratitude to the City of Ottawa / Ville d’Ottawa and City Councillor Ariel Troster for their collaboration as we work together to respond to community priorities.

Below is the updated Ottawa Mission Food Truck Schedule for January 2025. Due to the rising costs of operating, the Ottawa Mission Food Truck program has had to reevaluate their operation in order to continue to serve the communities that depend on it (including many within the PQ catchment). These changes will mean shorter stop times and rerouting the schedule to limit travel between stops. We want to thank The Ottawa Mission for their Food Truck Program. It has ensured hot nutritious meals for our clients during tough economic times. It has really made a difference for so many we serve and is greatly appreciated. #hotmeals #foodsecurity #nutritiousfood

Yesterday we received a generous number of gifts and gift cards for our seniors. 🎁 As a new recipient of "Be a Santa for Seniors", we feel priviledged to bring Holiday cheer to some wonderful seniors in our community. We know how much they will appreciate these lovely gifts. Special thank you to Michael Price for this amazing partnership. #Holidaycheer #tistheseason #giftsunderthetree #seniors #holidayseason

Grateful beyond words for our incredible partners and mentors! I recently visited the CCI Ottawa site, and it reaffirmed how essential partnerships like these are for creating meaningful impact. This time, a heartfelt shoutout to the CCI Ottawa (Catholic Centre for Immigrants) and a special kudos to Amena Khavari. The number of partners and mentors we collaborate with at Pinecrest-Queensway Employment Services is truly inspiring, and I cannot express enough gratitude to each and every one of them for the pivotal role they play in helping us achieve our shared goals. Amena Khavari is a shining example of a mentor; super supportive, compassionate, and dedicated, just like the many others I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Thank you, CCI Ottawa, and thank you, Amena Khavari. What you are doing for the community is making a real difference and it does not go unnoticed! Margaret J. Wheatley was right to say: "There's no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about." Let's continue to care, connect, and create change! #Partnerships #CommunitySupport #Mentorship #Gratitude #Collaboration #CCI

Shout out to our System Navigator, Sarah, and our Community Health Worker, Sado, for supporting this Holiday dinner at Regina Towers.
Thanks to the staff from the OCH Foundation and Pomerleau Construction who joined tenants at Regina Towers during their holiday dinner and dance on Dec. 14. #OCHVolunteers from Pomerleau had so much fun they can’t wait to come back. The celebration was made possible thanks to tenant volunteers, the OCH Community Developer and partners with the Pinecrest Queensway Community Health Centre and Salus Ottawa. The Foundation also provided support in the form of gift cards for tenants.
