Saskatchewan is a global leader in agricultural production, innovation, and technology. Its agriculture and agri-food industries are vital to both the provincial and national economy. These sectors are not only essential to meeting consumer demands but also play a critical role in creating jobs, supporting innovation, and driving sustainable economic growth. 🌱 🌾 🚜
Today, the Honourable Dan Vandal announced over $10 million in PrairiesCan funding for eight innovative projects in #Saskatchewan’s agriculture, agri-food, and ag manufacturing sectors. These targeted investments will help expand farming operations, boost the output of value-added agricultural products, and enhance ag manufacturing capacity.
Projects include:
➡️ Agricultural Manufacturers of Canada (AMC) to deliver business services and support to the agricultural manufacturing sector through the Careers In Ag initiative.
➡️ PAMI (Prairie Agricultural Machinery Institute) to acquire advanced equipment and software to help small and medium enterprises design, test, and commercialize agricultural, mining, and transportation products.
➡️ Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership to promote advanced manufacturing on the global stage by leading a Pan-Prairie advanced manufacturing trade mission in the agriculture manufacturing sector over the next two years.
➡️ Drake Meats Processors to install and commission equipment for a new meat processing facility in Saskatoon, expanding market reach across Western Canada.
➡️ Simpson Seeds Inc. to launch a new lentil flour processing facility in Moose Jaw, SK, through the procurement and installation of specialized equipment.
➡️ Pelican Lake Farms and Pelican Lake First Nation to establish a farming operation on Pelican Lake First Nation in northwest Saskatchewan, supporting local growth and opportunities.
➡️ Prairie Energy Resources Inc. to implement a bulk cooking oil delivery system to reduce plastic waste for Saskatchewan restaurants.
➡️ Vale Industries, Agriculture to expand manufacturing capacity for agricultural, aggregate, and mining equipment by procuring and commissioning new equipment.
By supporting the hardworking producers, manufacturers, and innovators who drive these sectors, we are laying the groundwork for a strong, diversified, and sustainable #GreenPrairieEconomy and agricultural industry—one that will continue to feed Canada and the world.
