About us
Located in the Province of New Brunswick, Port Saint John is Atlantic Canada's largest seaport by volume of cargo handled, and fastest growing container port on the Eastern Seaboard of North America. With an average of 28 million metric tonnes of cargo annually, Port Saint John is one of Canada's key ports recognized for its strategic importance to the nation's trade and economy. We acknowledge that the lands and waters on which Port Saint John and its partners operate are situated the traditional and unceded territory of the Wolastoqey, the Mi'Kmaq, and Passamaquoddy Nations who signed Treaties of Peace and Friendship with the British crown in the 1700s. These treaties protect their rights to land and resources and are affirmed in Section 35 of the Canadian Constitution. At Port Saint John, our commitment to truth and reconciliation and the actions that will result from this are based on a foundational respect for First Nations culture and heritage and a desire to engage in meaningful relationships. Through our focus on people, we serve as connectors who find innovative solutions to create economic and social value. By building partnerships, we provide a platform for prosperity and sustainability.

Many who know me well know that each year I’m involved with The Harbour Lights Campaign which raises much needed funds for food banks across the region. Today we were pleased to welcome DP World Canada on board as a sustaining donor to the Campaign. Starting with the 2024 campaign they will donate $10K a year for 3 years. DP World Canada joins Nutrien who is now in the third year of a 4-year commitment at $50K per year to this vital cause. For this year their contributions together have brought us to a year-to-date total of nearly $232K and we still have a few weeks to go. Sustaining donors are a new feature of the Harbour Lights Campaign and the commitment each of these companies has made provides a source of sustainable funding that food banks desperately need. In an economic climate that is increasingly challenging, our 16 food bank partners tell us that traditionally between one-quarter to one-third of their annual revenue to purchase food comes from the Harbour Lights fundraising effort. This post is a huge thank you to both Nutrien and DP World for stepping up and making a significant commitment to combat tremendous need in our communites and for contributing to stable funding sources for the food banks. We’ve recognized the significant and important commitment of each of these companies in the Partners section on the Harbour Lights website. https://lnkd.in/eeXjNhGF #foodbanks #community #partnership DP World Nutrien Port Saint John

On Friday evening, I watched in awe as two additional cranes sailed into the Saint John Harbour destined for our Port’s west side. The enormous DP World quay cranes will boost container handling capacity and solidify our position as a key North American gateway. Having DP World Canada CEO Doug Smith in town to mark the momentous occasion was an honour and symbolic of our shared commitment to growth. I was proud to share Friday's positive sentiments with Premier Susan Holt and regional Ministers & MLAs alongside Board Chair Jack Keir this afternoon. As we watched the crew preparing to offload the cranes onto our working waterfront, we agreed that, undoubtedly, our Port will continue to provide a platform for prosperity for our province.
