On Tuesday evening, Sajecki Planning's Morgan Dundas and Tony De Franco, along with OneSpace Architects, presented an overview of the proposed redevelopment of Fieldgate Plaza in Mississauga. This public engagement event included a Q&A session where local community members could learn more about the project. A formal development application is expected to be filed within the coming weeks.

We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Michi McCloskey to the role of Senior Associate. Michi joined Sajecki Planning in 2021 and since then has managed multidisciplinary projects such as the Georgetown GO Station Area/Mill Street Corridor Secondary Plan Review and numerous development applications across Toronto, Mississauga and beyond. She is trained in IAP2 and has served as a Panel Member of the Etobicoke York District Committee of Adjustment. Michi consistently demonstrates exceptional team leadership, a consistent and dedicated approach to her projects, and an outstanding attitude that inspires those around her. Her positive energy and genuine desire to improve people's lives through her work are a true asset to the team.

Earlier this year the Municipality of Chatham-Kent's Council Composition and Ward Boundary Review project was initiated. Sajecki Planning, in collaboration with StrategyCorp, developed seven (7) draft ward boundary options that enable the Municipality to provide an effective and equitable system of representation for all residents.   Sajecki Planning analyzed Chatham-Kent's current population, growth projections, and trends to model the Municipality's population at the parcel level through 2024 and the 2026 and 2030 elections. Population changes were projected then examined to inform the draft ward boundary options. Utilizing geographic information systems software, Sajecki Planning visualized the draft ward boundaries.   Currently, Strategy Corp is seeking feedback from Chatham-Kent residents on the draft ward boundary maps and hosting meetings as part of the second round of public engagement. We’re excited to announce that on Monday, October 28th Town Council for the Town of Halton Hills awarded the Town's Official Plan Review to Sajecki Planning Inc. along with HDR, Tate Economic Research Inc., NBLC - N. Barry Lyon Consultants, NPG Planning Solutions Inc., & Natural Resource Solutions Inc. We're thrilled to work with the Town to position Halton Hills for the next phase of community building to the year 2051.

Ed Sajecki and I were honored to be invited to the grand opening of Child Venture’s Sheppard Avenue West site this past Saturday. Sajecki Planning Inc. represented the project at the Committee of Adjustment in May 2024, where the Committee unanimously approved the application. We also received invaluable support from Councillor Lily Cheng’s office, which recognizes the critical shortage of early learning and child care facilities in Toronto and prioritized this site accordingly. Here’s to many more early learning and child care centres opening across Toronto!

We had our kick-off meeting yesterday with the City of Kitchener, Tate Economic Research Inc., and Metro Economics to commence work on the City's Growing Together East - Market Analysis Study. The project will provide recommendations to the policy and zoning framework in response to the unique attributes and specific needs of the Block Line, Fairway and Sportsworld Protected Major Transit Station Areas. While we recognize that the nature of employment is changing, these changes need to be considered when formulating policies that guide development over the longer term. We look forward to working with Divercities Advisory Inc. to bring an equity lens to the project, and working with the team at-large to optimize the non-residential function of these areas in the future. Few things have the ability to shape the form of our communities like higher order transit. Setting the right policy and regulatory framework to leverage this investment is critical. Tony, a Registered Professional Planner with over 12 years of experience, and holds a Master of Science in Planning from the University of Toronto. Tony has extensive expertise in managing complex community planning and development projects for both public and private sector clients, including municipal planning approvals, master planning, urban design, and transit-oriented development. Tony has also served as an expert witness at the Ontario Land Tribunal and has presented at conferences, city councils, and the Committee of Adjustment. With a strong grasp of the municipal approvals process and provincial policy, Tony has been involved in all stages of development approvals, from master planning and rezonings to site plan approvals and minor variances.
