Theatre critic Aisling Murphy named the Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre production of The Great Divide one of the must-see productions in Canada this summer! "There's a show opening in Montreal in the next couple of weeks called The Great Divide, and this will be at the Segal Centre in Montreal. We actually had this in Toronto in 2022 at the Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company. It's a really haunting and touching play about the Triangle Shirtwaist fire in the early 20th century in New York. I found it to be written very, very well. It's uncovering maybe a hidden part of history in a way I found super effective, so I highly recommend for anyone in the Montreal area." We are excited to announce the upcoming Yiddish-language premiere of Alix Sobler’s The Great Divide, presented by the Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre! The piece tells the story of the immigrant experience in early 20th century America: a story of the love, the hardships, and the ultimate price paid by many chasing the American dream. Performances will be presented in Yiddish with English and French supertitles. The Great Divide runs June 23-30. What a full house we had this past Sunday @ the Segal! The theatre was abuzz with intellectual energy as many gathered for a captivating discussion preceding the first preview of our production of Fifteen Dogs! 🐕 The esteemed panelists Alice Abracen and Michaela Di Cesare spoke on their experience of adapting pre-existing work and transforming it for the stage.
