A Quantum Leap Forward in Drug Detection
About us
Thousands of times every day, THC use goes undetected in the workplace. That puts lives at risk. At SpectraCann, we help employers identify employees who are under the influence – improving workplace safety and productivity. We have developed the first portable breathalyzer that delivers highly accurate THC detection, in seconds. Powered by Quantum Optics Laser Technology, this game-changing innovation detects anomalies in the breath within a 1-3 hour window after marijuana has been consumed, ensuring people who are ready to work can proceed to the jobsite without delay.

Proof of Concept Project- Hatch Dimension X, Singapore. It all started with an email from chief analyst of Hatch — Innovation Hub for Public Safety and Security in Singapore.. Hatch Dimension X is a global open innovation challenge program in public safety and security space. The program is 4 months paid pilot, designed to address real-world problem statements provided by the Government of Singapore, selected startups will collaborate with operational end-users and technology experts from the Singapore Home Team Science and Technology Agency to validate their innovations. While the program primarily focuses on solving challenges for the Singapore government, it also provides invaluable support and opportunities for the participating startups who are building solutions for those problems across the world. We were fortunate to have been invited and to participate in the Hatch Dimension X program cohort 3, where we worked on the challenge statement posted by the Central Narcotics Bureau of Singapore. The impact of this engagement went far beyond just gaining experience—it validated our core problem, strengthened our solution, and laid the foundation for future growth. We concluded the POC with a week full of activities, three separate Demo events to showcase our progress to an audience of potential investors, partners, and government stakeholders. Here are the key validations we achieved through the Hatch Dimension X, POC: - Validated Problem Statement – Through this POC, we confirmed that a real and pressing challenge exists. A customer facing significant drug detection and enforcement issues was willing to invest in exploring a solution. - Demonstrated Urgency – The urgency of the problem is evident, as the customer is looking to assess the feasibility of an innovative approach. - Proven Solution Potential – Our POC demonstrated both technical and market feasibility, reinforcing that our technology has the potential to address this challenge effectively. - Confirmed Global Relevance – The challenges of drug detection and enforcement were not limited to a single region. Through Hatch Dimension X, we validated that this issue extends across multiple jurisdictions, confirming the global applicability of our solution. For SpectraCann, landing a paid POC was more than just a milestone—it served as a critical validation point that propelled our growth, built credibility, and unlocked new opportunities for future expansion. We’re incredibly grateful to the Hatch team, HTX home team, our fellow cohort members, and the CNB for their guidance and support. As SpectraCann moves forward, we remain committed to leveraging innovation to create safer communities. 🚀 Hatch Lior Eitan Chiko David Knovel Engineering Taufiq Abdul Azim Central Narcotics Bureau Gerald Chow Loh Yi Ting LIVR Extreme Simulations nami Graylark Technologies, Inc. 🚀 SpectraCann at SLINGSHOT 2024 – A Global Stage for Innovation! 🌏 As we stepped into 2025, we’re looking back at one of the most exciting moments of our journey—our participation in SLINGSHOT 2024, Asia’s leading deep-tech startup competition in Singapore. Competing alongside groundbreaking innovations and visionary entrepreneurs, this experience was a game-changer for SpectraCann. SpectraCann was honored to be among the top 50 finalists at SLINGSHOT 2024, Asia’s leading deep-tech startup competition, held as part of the Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH). With 5,555 applicants competing for just 50 spots, SpectraCann stood out as one of only two Canadian companies selected—and the only one from our Hatch Dimension X cohort to reach the finals. SLINGSHOT brought together 20,000 participants and 200+ investors, creating an unparalleled opportunity to showcase our novel breath-analyzing technology (rtCRDS) Presenting our rapid THC detection solution to a global audience reinforced the increasing recognition of our work in VOC detection in breath. We’re also proud to share that SpectraCann won the "Best Pitch for Partner Organizations Startups" award, securing $20,000 SGD in non-dilutive funding. This recognition highlights the impact and potential of our technology in advancing public safety, health, and regulatory compliance. A big thank you to Enterprise Singapore for organizing this dynamic event, as well as to Hatch Dimension X for their continuous support in advancing us to the finals. As we continue pushing the boundaries of drug detection, the connections and opportunities from SLINGSHOT are opening new pathways for collaboration within Singapore’s thriving innovation ecosystem. Here’s to driving innovation, forging partnerships, and shaping the future of responsible technology. 💡 #SLINGSHOT2024 #DeepTech #Innovation #SpectraCann #BreathAnalyzer #THCDetection #StartupEcosystem #PublicSafety

The strength of Alberta’s Tech Ecosystem is due in large part to the continued efforts of Alberta Innovates. Inventures 2024 provided an opportunity to showcase innovators and those supporting their dreams. SpectraCann was pleased to be included in the Exhibition Hall alongside Technology Alberta, Gail Powley and Neil Goud, and Alberta Catalyzer, Jill Co. There, we met many event attendees and had the chance to talk about our journey, bringing our quantum laser optics technology and Drug Breathalyzer to life. Throughout the three days of Inventure$2024, the team attended numerous sessions related to building, launching and growing a successful tech company. While the opportunity to learn was immense and the take-aways invaluable, the EXPERIENCE of attending Inventure$2024 was remarkable. The sights, sounds, and connections made outside of the formal sessions provided much needed inspiration, encouragement and energy needed to achieve our goals. With that, SpectraCann looks forward to capitalizing on the connections made, the advice received and the key learnings gained. Thank you Inventure$2024. See you next year! #Inventures2024 #TechnologyAlberta #AlbertaCatalyzer #AlbertaInnovates #AlchemistX
