💩 BAJSBAKTERIER I VATTNET? SVAR INOM 15 MINUTER. Idag tar det fyra dagar att fastställa om det finns e-colibakterier, så kallade "bajsbakterier", i badvattnet. Varje vecka tar Helsingborgs stad prover på vattnet vid 15 badplatser i Helsingborg, från Utvälinge i norr till Fortuna i söder. I de fall provresultatet visar höga halter av e-colibakterier varnar vi för otjänligt badvatten. – Fast i realiteten kan ju bakterierna vara borta då. Det är som att säga att i måndags skulle du haft paraply, säger Elisabet Lindberg, strandansvarig i Helsingborgs stad. Tillsammans med Lunds universitet har vi testat fram en ny metod för att mäta bakterier i vatten. "Danube Canal is cleaner than Seine" - says Vienna's very own Dr. Wolfgang Vogel - perhaps the most influential person in the realm of water quality in Europe at the moment, the CEO of Vienna Water Monitoring Solutions. Under Dr. Vogl's helm, the VWMs trademarked Coli-Minder - a revolutionary rapid water quality testing equipment used for testing fast-flowing rivers and the main indicator of water quality in the Seine river! Yes, VWMs has been contracted by the City of Paris administration to carry out water quality tests of the Seine river, every 15 minutes, every day! Although, the Danube Canal experiment was really just a few one-time tests - snapshots in time, if you will, the results are still fascinating! The detected microbiological activity score of 4,84 in the Danube Canal is two times lower than the lowest activity every measured in Seine, even after the massive clean-up works. This is not meant to discourage people from swimming in the Seine. According to Dr. Vogl, any value lower than 10 allows for a comfortable, care-free swim. :) So there you have it - Danube Canal is clean and waiting for you to take a plunge. Of course, there are exceptions. We need to learn how to interact with water and we need regular water quality testing to ensure that we do not go swimming, when we shouldn't - like, for example, after heavy rainfalls. Ist der Coliminder auch mobil einsetzbar? Na klar - sagt unser CEO Reinhold Keller und lädt uns ein, ihn bei einer Kontrolltour verschiedener Badeseen zu begleiten. Schnelle Messergebnisse werden ja nicht nur im Labor gebraucht. Die sekundenschnelle mobile Blaualgen- und Sauerstoffmessung am See ist ja schon Routine geworden. Wir nehmen noch Wasserproben für die mikrobiologische Messung und gehen zurück zum Auto. 🚕 Dort steht der Coliminder im Kofferraum, einsatzbereit am Bordnetz angeschlossen. Probe umfüllen, Sampleleitung einstecken und Messung starten. Bevor wir fertig gepackt haben, zeigt uns die Messung bereits nach 9 Minuten die erste Einschätzung der E.Coli Werte an. Hier ist alles gut, die Werte sind weit unterhalb des Grenzwertes. Wir können zum nächsten Badeplatz weiterfahren.
