How are you managing your #boilorders? Klagenfurt, one of the biggest cities in Austria, had found an #enterococci contamination in their #drinkingwater network - just by coincidence during their regular testing regime relying on standard culture-based lab method taking 24+ hours to get a result. They issued a boil order and started scanning the entire network to identify source and origin of contamination and to manage additional disinfection requirements. They started narrowing down the area of contamination using the standard lab method only. With the long waiting time to result of this method, they estimated 6+ weeks to be able to lift the boil order. After several days, the ColiMinder came in: with its rapid measurements, they have been able to speed up the testing regime immensly. They took around 30 samples per day, measured it in 15 minutes and were thus able to identify location and source of contamination around 30 times faster than with only relying on the standard method. After 4 weeks instead of 6, they were able to lift the boil order and citizens were very happy. Now, they are using a #ColiMinder Mobile for continuos monitoring of their network, reservoirs and groundwater wells - to get an early indication in case a contamination is building up. Our valued distributor for Australia and New Zealand, Phil Krasnostein from Optimos Group, is currently preparing and validating the ColiMinder for its deployment in monitoring #enterococci levels 🦠 in a side arm of the Sydney Harbour Bay. One of Sydney Water's stated goals is to enable swimming in the Harbour Bay and its side arms - a project called “Urban Plunge” has been set up for this purpose. 🏊♀️ Their ColiMinder “Nerida” contributes a small piece to the puzzle: the levels of faecal contamination are continuously monitored, with results available within 15 minutes; and a “fire alarm” can be triggered if the contamination exceeds the threshold values. #Emergency Installation for the ColiMinder Have a look what the Kleine Zeitung in Klagenfurt (Austria) writes about the ColiMinder and how it could help an Austrian city in the current #boilorder situation. Today, one mobile ColiMinder (the Emergency Response Unit) is delivered to the #drinkingwater supplier in that city to help them identifying the source of the current #fecalcontamination with #Enterococci in their drinking water supply. If they only used the traditional culture-based lab method with 24+ hours waiting time to result, it would take them weeks or even months to test every measuring point within their network to identify where the #contamination has its origin. With the #ColiMinder and its 15 minutes time to result, they will safe hours - if not days - because they can test numerous samples from different sampling points within a short period of time, thus cutting the time to identify the source of contamination, treat it and remove the #boilorder much more quickly - a relief for all the citizens who currently lack #drinkingwater supply.
