  • At TD Systems, we prioritize the health and safety of our clients, and one of the standout benefits of using the IAPMO Water Demand Calculator (WDC) is its significant impact on water quality. By right-sizing piping systems to meet actual demand, the WDC helps prevent water stagnation, ensuring that water delivered to your tap is fresh and clean.   Why is this important? Mechanical systems designed with oversized pipes results in water spending too much time in the building which can result in degradation in water quality. By embracing efficient design practices with the WDC, we’re able to reduce water waste, increase water quality, reduce costs, and contribute to sustainable water management—a crucial step for environmentally responsible construction and long-term resource savings.   Explore how these water-saving techniques can impact your projects: https://lnkd.in/g5dWjAT4 #WaterEfficiency #SustainableDesign #MechanicalEngineering #WaterDemandCalculator #TDTuesday

  • At TD Systems, we’re always looking for ways to bring cost savings to our clients, especially as rising affordability challenges affect our region. One of the key benefits of using the IAPMO Water Demand Calculator (WDC) is the ability to reduce overall construction costs by right-sizing piping systems. Smaller, more efficient pipes mean less material, reduced labour, and significant cost savings—all of which can contribute to lower housing prices. With the WDC, we help streamline mechanical designs to meet water demand without unnecessary oversizing, directly addressing affordability and sustainability in construction. Want to learn more? We recommend joining the upcoming Water Demand Calculator Summit on November 12th. This virtual event will provide insights into how the WDC can impact your next project. We were thrilled to welcome members of the Thomas Haney Secondary School robotics team to Shop XL yesterday for a hands-on learning experience! The visit featured a 3D printing demonstration, where we built a mock-up they designed, a BIM discussion to help them shape their robot for next year’s competition, and a close-up look at our AI Welding Robot from Novarc Technologies Inc. Eamonn Bermingham P.Eng a Principal at TD Systems Ltd, a Maple Ridge-based mechanical design company, also shared advice on mechanical engineering and design. The students also toured our state-of-the-art fabrication facility to see how technology can reshape the construction industry.   To support their efforts, we also donated $3,000 toward their competition funds because we believe in empowering young minds to push boundaries. This event marks the first in our Future of Work mini-series, aimed at inspiring the next generation and sharing the possibilities within our industry. We look forward to more opportunities to engage with students and build a future where innovation leads the way. "Our industry is rapidly evolving, and we’re excited to introduce these students to the technologies driving the future of construction. We love investing in our local community, and inspiring students is imperative to building a brighter future for our industry. We understand that schools often don’t have the resources to invest in the latest technology, which could give students a competitive edge. At Pitt Meadows Plumbing, we’ve made it a priority to invest in these innovations, going beyond what most companies and schools might consider.” - Steve Robinson, President, Pitt Meadows Plumbing Special thanks to Brandon Tucker from Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows News for the article: https://lnkd.in/gf6FXG8e #Robotics #ConTech #NextGeneration #FutureofWork #STEMEducation

  • We’re pleased to introduce Samrath Matta, a recent British Columbia Institute of Technology graduate in Mechanical Engineering Systems, who has quickly become a valuable asset to our team at TD Systems. With his fresh perspective and practical experience in HVAC and plumbing, Samrath brings a solid balance of up-to-date technical knowledge and innovative problem-solving. In Samrath’s words, "Mechanical design is a blend of creativity and precision. There’s always room to innovate, but everything must work seamlessly and reliably." That approach, where functionality meets innovation, resonates with all of us who understand the complexity and importance of getting the design right. Samrath also recognizes the broader impact our work has: "The systems we design improve comfort, efficiency, and quality of life—whether it’s in a commercial building or a home." He’s proud to be part of a team that’s focused on delivering sustainable and client-driven solutions, and his contributions help drive our commitment to quality. When he’s not tackling technical challenges, Samrath enjoys playing tennis, a hobby that keeps him sharp and balanced—much like the precision required in mechanical design. Welcome to the team, Samrath. We’re excited to see the impact you’ll make! #MechanicalEngineering #TDSystems #InnovativeDesign #TeamSpotlight

  • At TD Systems, we are committed to driving innovation and sustainability in mechanical design. One key area we’ve been championing is the use of the IAPMO Water Demand Calculator (WDC).   By modernizing pipe sizing, the WDC reduces the need for larger, unnecessary piping. This leads to significant embodied carbon savings, contributing to a greener future.   We've successfully implemented this approach on several projects such as the King George Hub Phase D in Surrey (pictured).   While some regions have yet to adopt the WDC, we’re actively working toward broader acceptance to showcase the environmental and cost-saving benefits it brings!   Interested in learning more?
