Thank you CTV Atlantic for interviewing our Special Events Coordinator at Easter Seals NS, Caden Flynn on the daily struggles he faces everyday using a demoralizing and archaic Access a Bus system. The new council has a responsibility to invest in the logistical and technological infrastructure to bring the system into this century at the very least.

Let’s break it down: the way we think about disability today is deeply shaped by colonization. Before colonizers imposed Western medical models that saw disability as something to 'fix,' many Indigenous communities celebrated disabilities as gifts with spiritual meaning. Colonization brought models like medical, social, charity, and rights—all with their own set of problems for Indigenous, Black, and racialized people with disabilities (IBRpD). So, how do we change this? We move toward disability justice, a movement by and for disabled folks of colour, centring the voices of those most impacted by ableism, racism, and colonialism. It’s time to decolonize our understanding of disability and build a more inclusive future . . . #RaceDisabilityCanada #Education #accessibleeducation #educationforall #DEENSupport #Race #Disability #EDI #Equity #Inclusion #Diversity #RaceandDisability #ImmigrantVoices #DisabilityAdvocacy #DisabilityRights #Training #DEENVisionNetwork #Changemakers #socialchange #DecolonizeDisability #DisabilityJustice #IBRpD
