Speaking Moderator Tip of the Month! 🚨 Don’t cross your legs because your foot will fall asleep! It’s been a week, and my ankle’s still sore! Here’s a lesson I didn’t know I needed — and maybe you’ll thank me for this tip later. 🙃 At TiECon Canada this year, I had the honor of moderating an AI panel. Proudly perched, left leg crossed over the other, I sat through the full 45 minutes without moving a muscle. (That's me on the left side of the stage!) But when the session ended, I stood up — and almost face-planted OFF the stage! 😳 Why? No I did not miss a step or trip on something on stage... because my entire foot had fallen asleep. Numb and completely unresponsive! Limp, simply nothing there. Imagine the “grace” I had trying to regain balance with no feeling in my leg. Let’s just say I’ll be sitting differently from now on. So, a small tip from my big blunder: when moderating, avoid crossing your legs for too long, and don’t forget to wiggle those toes now and then! 🦶😊 Ever had a “public speaking mishap” moment? Please share below so we can commiserate! Also please follow me for more helpful tips. LOL

From bootstrapping stories to AI breakthroughs, TiE Ottawa showcased Ottawa's tech evolution in action. I'm still processing all the amazing insights I gained. Ottawa's tech scene is truly thriving! → The Bootstrapping session was a standout for me. Mike Potter, Peter O'Blenis, John Findlay and Kenton White shared their journeys of building successful startups without VC. Their stories of adapting to market changes were really inspiring. It showed me how bootstrapping can give founders the flexibility to change direction quickly when needed. → Michael Chase's talk on AI was a wake-up call. He made it clear that AI isn't just a fad – it's going to change everything about how we do business. → I was blown away by Patrick Spychalski's demo of Clay. It's incredible how AI is changing sales work. Tasks that used to take months can now be done in hours. That's a game-changer for sales teams. → Gordon Gibson's presentation on Ada's shift to embrace the GenAI trend was fascinating. It really drove home the point that keeping up with tech changes is crucial for long-term success. → Hai N.'s story about growing the AI Thinkerers community was impressive. It went from 20 to over 700 members in just a year. It shows how powerful it can be to build communities around new technologies. → The Q&A with Vinod Khosla, the well-known tech founder and investor, was a great way to end the event. His thoughts on AI and the future of tech gave us all a lot to think about. TAKEAWAY The companies that will succeed are the ones that can quickly adapt to new technologies. Whether it's through bootstrapping or making big changes in strategy, we need to be ready to shift gears. As founders, our challenge is to create environments where innovation isn't just encouraged - it's inevitable. We need to cultivate a mindset where change is seen as an opportunity, not a threat.
