As we mark National Housing Day, we reminded of the pivotal role affordable housing plays in shaping vibrant, resilient communities. Affordable housing development is more than just building homes; it’s about creating sustainable, inclusive communities where people can thrive. Every day, we are grateful to work with organizations that are focused on delivering these outcomes in their respective communities. On this National Housing Day, let’s reflect on the progress we’ve made and the continued work ahead. Together, we can create a future where everyone has a safe, affordable place to call home.

We are excited to see progress and congratulate Support House for reaching this significant achievement in their affordable housing development journey!
From a hole in the ground comes great things. TWC Inc. is pleased to be working with our client Support House on this exciting 12 unit permanent affordable housing project in Acton. Our development partners Invizij Architects and Schilthuis Construction along with numerous sub-trades are providing their expertise and experience. Funding partners Halton Region, Town of Halton Hills and the Government of Canada are helping to pay the bills. Give us about a year and we will start to see the first residents moving in.

Our colleague is conducting research on a very relevant topic and which some of our clients are navigating on a regular basis. If you have time, please participate and share.
My name is Katie Brousseau, and I am a Master of Planning student at Dalhousie University. I am conducting research regarding forced evictions from homeless encampments on public lands in Nova Scotia, Ontario, and British Columbia. In light of a growing housing and homelessness crisis in Canada, the purpose of this research is to understand how Canadian courts, government agencies, and shelter providers, respectively, perceive and interpret standards of “adequate” and “sufficient” emergency shelter. I am seeking employees of emergency shelters in Nova Scotia, Ontario, and British Columbia to participate in a voluntary survey regarding shelter protocols, policies, and procedures regarding the tracking of available shelter beds. This survey also seeks feedback regarding what it means for shelter to be “adequate”. Thank you, in advance, for your participation. If you would like to receive a copy of the final report, and/or if you have any questions or concerns regarding this study, please email me at: katie.brousseau@dal.ca. https://lnkd.in/gzdHUuXt
