It was a great privilege for me to welcome our 54 new Special Constables this morning and to meet their family and friends. Each of them will enhance our organization with a wealth of diverse life and professional experiences, culture and languages that uniquely reflect the diversity of our amazing city. A sex trafficking survivor thanked the people who helped her escape a life of victimization at the Chief’s Gala in support of Victim Services Toronto last night as 1,500 supporters gathered to raise money for victims of crime. It was my great honour and privilege to present 91 new police officers with their badges in front of their families and friends as they begin their career of service to our community. They each bring different backgrounds and experiences to the job but share the same commitment to serve and protect. I’m in awe once again! Such a proud day for the Toronto Police Service as we celebrated 20, 30, 40, and 50 years of Service to our great City! I was so proud of the members from Priority Response Command, which includes our 911 Communications Operators, and members from our Toronto Police Operations Centre (TPOC).
