Sydney Robinson had the pleasure of representing Vessl at the annual Intellectual Property Ontario (IPON) Summit on Monday! The day was jam packed with knowledgeable speakers, inspiring companies, and networking opportunities with leaders in intellectual property. Thank you to IPON for your support and for hosting us at the Summit. Thank you also to everyone we met that day who offered guidance and connections. Your support makes what we do possible (and so much more enjoyable!). Special shout out to Saumik Biswas, PhD for taking these pictures and being Vessl’s booth neighbour for the day!

Empowering amputees through prosthetic innovation.
About us
Every year, 180 000 people in the United States have their leg amputated. Currently, that is 1.4 million people. In 80% of cases, the cause is diabetes or vascular disease, which predominantly occurs in seniors. Unfortunately, people with leg amputations or limb difference experience changes in their residual leg's size, such that a change of just 1-2% causes pain. This pain is just the start: half of all lower limb amputees develop pressure sores and the five-year mortality rate for a person with a leg amputation is as high as 82%. As daunting as this may seem, Vessl has a revolutionary solution. We developed the Isoform Adaptive Volume Management System that transforms any prosthetic socket into one that automatically adapts to changes in leg size. With Isoform, people with amputations can move comfortably all day, every day. Join us in helping people with amputations get reliably back on their feet.

Today, on International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we celebrate the resilience and achievements of individuals living with disabilities. At Vessl, our mission is to empower people with lower limb amputations and limb differences by creating adjustable prostheses designed to adapt to their needs and lifestyles. We love meeting with people with lived experiences who inspire us to keep innovating! This year’s theme, "Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future", underscores the importance of elevating the voices of individuals with disabilities in shaping a world where everyone can thrive. Their leadership and lived experiences are key to creating a more inclusive, accessible, and sustainable society. To our network: what are you doing to uplift the leadership and contributions of people with disabilities? Let’s collaborate and continue building a future that leaves no one behind. #InternationalPersonsWithDisabilitiesDay #Inclusion #Accessibility #AdjustableProsthetics #LimbDifference https://lnkd.in/dkK3MGF

Thank you TechAlliance of Southwestern Ontario for hosting an engaging conversation yesterday about impact investing! We’ve noticed an increasing number of emerging funds and angel investors saying that impact is something they place value on when looking for new investment opportunities. It’s great to start talking about what “impact investing” means to different people, how to track it, and how it plays a role in investment decisions. Thank you Allison Gibson, Ashima Chopra, and Lynn M. Davis for your insights and stories, and to Melissa Maloney and the whole TechAlliance crew for hosting this conversation! To our network, what does impact investing mean to you?

"Knowledge is power", a tried and true phrase and one that CEO Sydney Robinson put into action by taking Council of Canadian Innovators | Conseil canadien des innovateurs course, the Innovation Governance Program (iGP). iGP Level 1, Sydney increased her knowledge around what roles Boards of Directors play and which elements of the business they need to be aware of to help companies avoid undo risks. The best part of the course was the camaraderie in the small groups. The discussions in Group 8 and with the entire cohort solidified the learnings from the sessions in huge ways. We look forward to staying connected to our fellow graduates as we continue to learn about corporate governance and the roles it plays in start-ups like ours.

Hard to believe it was already a week ago that I was at #TheMedtechConference by AdvaMed! It was amazing to reconnect with friends like Derek Herrera, Alison Smith Ph.D., Samantha Gardner, Parnian Tajbakhsh, Jayiesh Singh, Armen Bakirtzian, Rachel Bartholomew, Michael Phillips, Inara Lalani, Saumik Biswas, PhD, Eveline Pasman, Henry Peck and so many more! I loved learning from great minds like Maura Campbell at OBIO on Angel Investors Ontario’s panel talk (I always learn something new from you Maura!) and from the amazing network at MedTechVets (special thanks to Patrice Sutherland, William Cambardella, Brandon Fertig, David Frost, Joshua Tallman, MPH, Marc Chauvette (MBA) and Tabitha Ogle for your valuable insights). Thank you for having us AdvaMed, thank you for coming to Canada, and I can’t wait for next year! 💪🏻
