The one-stop hub that connects people, knowledge and resources to grow and promote the Greater Victoria tech sector.

About us

VIATEC (Victoria Innovation, Advanced Technology and Entrepreneurship Council), started in 1989. Our mission is to serve as the one-stop hub that connects people, knowledge and resources to grow and promote the Greater Victoria technology sector (Victoria's biggest industry). We work closely with our members to offer a variety of events, programs and services. In addition, VIATEC serves as the front door of the local tech sector and as its spokesperson. To better support local innovators, we acquired our own building (Fort Tectoria) where we offer flexible and affordable office space to emerging local companies along with a gathering/event space for local entrepreneurs. FOCUS AREAS Regional and Sector Promotion: Serve as the primary promoter and definitive source of information on the local technology sector. (Technology is Victoria's #1 industry with a $4.06 Billion Annual Revenue, a $5.22 Billion Economic Impact and over 16,775 employees across 995 high-tech companies - and growing!) Talent: Raise awareness of the career opportunities available within local technology companies by targeting experience workers and recent graduates while also promoting technology careers and innovation to students. Networking and Connections: Offer top quality networking and community building opportunities by connecting members through events and introductions, along with topic specific information as requested. Education and Mentoring: Provide timely, valuable information through seminars and connect interested members with experienced, volunteer mentors and advisors. Big thanks to everyone who joined us at the Election Watch Party! Great turnout, and it was refreshing take part in all the authentic, personal conversations happening throughout the night. Interestingly enough, the election seemed to bring out an open, relaxed vibe, with people making space for each other and genuinely listening to different viewpoints, no matter their stance. Kudos to our community! 🌭 🇺🇲
