🧓Older women face unique and disproportionate risks of violence. In Canada, they account for 58% of family violence victims and are twice as likely to experience intimate partner violence compared to older men. Through the Aging, Gender, Equality, and Safety (AGES) project, WomanACT engaged survivors aged 55 years and older to understand their experiences, needs, and the risk factors they face. This blog highlights insights from focus groups with older survivors and key themes from the literature on gender-based violence. 🔗Read more: https://ow.ly/aTs250UxlSm #EndViolence #SupportSurvivors #OlderWomenMatter

Insights from our research report, "Successful Tenancies: Exploring Survivors’ Experiences in the Private Rental Market in Toronto," reveal that while survivors are interested in private rental housing, they encounter unique barriers during the application process. We heard that the biggest roadblocks to renting were landlord references, upfront deposits, and credit checks. Learn more about the challenges faced by survivors of domestic violence when navigating the rental market & insights into how we can better support them. 🔗- https://ow.ly/gR5350UwFzs #Housing #Rental #Survivors #DomesticViolence #Landlords #GBV #IPV #VAW
