A big thank-you to Stephen Hull, Senior VP Market Access at Hull & Associates, LLC, an Avania Company, for joining our Trade Accelerator Program MedTech cohort yesterday as the guest keynote speaker! His session on U.S. Market Access provided invaluable insights for Ontario-based MedTech companies navigating the complexities of the U.S. healthcare landscape. Key takeaways from Stephen’s session: 🔹 Start Reimbursement Planning Early Don’t wait until FDA clearance—successful U.S. commercialization starts with evidence generation that resonates with payers, long before product launch. 🔹 Evidence Is King FDA approval is just the beginning. Payers demand robust comparative clinical evidence demonstrating better outcomes or cost savings to secure coverage. 🔹 Fragmented U.S. Payer Landscape The U.S. payer system is complex, with varying criteria across Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers. A tailored approach is essential, with Medicare’s decisions often setting the tone for others. 🔹 Beyond FDA Approval FDA clearance doesn’t guarantee payment. Engaging early with payers and aligning evidence generation with their expectations is critical for smoother market entry. We’re grateful to Stephen for sharing his expertise and helping our participants prepare for success in this competitive yet rewarding market. #MedTech #GlobalExpansion #TAP #HealthcareInnovation #USMarketAccess #ExportLeadership
