Did you know? The International Council of Sexual Medicine (ICSM), linked to the International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM), meets quinquennially to draw expert recommendations based on of the latest advances in specific topics aiming to establish consensus statements for improving patient care? Earlier this year (June 2024), the ICSM meeting was held in Madrid, Spain and for the first time, it included a committee dedicated to “New Regenerative Interventions”. Although the term “Regenerative” remains relatively generic and encompasses a variety of technologies, devices, and techniques, the initiative reflects the relevance of new treatment possibilities, gaining attention from the scientific research community with a constantly growing body of evidence-based outcomes. Today, the Biobridge Foundation and Dexeus Mujer are joining efforts to bring together a remarkable panel of international specialists who will share their views, knowledge, and experience in the ongoing exploration of applying a specific kind of regenerative medicine: Fresh Autologous Biologic preparations to tackle key issues affecting human sexual and reproductive organs. L'atrophie vulvo-vaginale (AVV) est une affection courante chez les femmes ayant suivi un traitement pour un cancer du sein, touchant entre 50 et 75 % d'entre elles. Ce trouble, lié à la baisse des hormones après les traitements, a un impact direct sur la santé intime et la sexualité. Les options thérapeutiques actuelles, telles que les gels hydratants ou les ovules, procurent un soulagement limité et temporaire, ce qui souligne le besoin de nouvelles solutions plus efficaces. Une recherche est menée pour évaluer des traitements innovants qui pourraient améliorer durablement la santé vaginale et la qualité de vie sexuelle des patientes concernées. Deux approches sont comparées aux traitements topiques habituels : le laser CO2 et les injections d'acide hyaluronique. Ces alternatives visent à restaurer la muqueuse vaginale et à offrir une amélioration plus durable des symptômes de l'AVV, contribuant ainsi à une meilleure qualité de vie pour ces femmes.
