Merging Penso Power into our global energy storage platform 🔋 BW ESS is delighted to announce that we are merging Penso Power Limited into our global platform to unlock the value of utility-scale energy storage globally. Operating as BW ESS, the company will leverage world-class engineering, project delivery, commercial and business development capabilities in a market projected by McKinsey to exceed US$120 billion by 2030. With a team of nearly 30 energy storage specialists, BW ESS will cover all stages of project development, deployment and operation, maintaining a long-term investment perspective as an owner-operator. Already holding operational assets in Sweden and over 1GWh of projects under construction in the UK, Sweden, and Australia, the transaction grows BW ESS’ portfolio with the addition of Penso Power’s UK and Australian pipeline of more than 2GW. ⭐️ Six highlights from 2024 ⭐️ As we near the end of a landmark year for global energy storage and for BW ESS, here are six of our brightest moments: 1. Global expansion: In January, together with Gaw Capital Partners, we established Valent Energy, a dedicated BESS owner-operator in Australia working to build a portfolio of 7 assets totalling 1.6GW 🇦🇺 2. A new European market: In February, we marked our entry into the Italian market through a partnership with Milan’s ACL Energy, significantly expanding it further in November to take our joint development pipeline to 14 projects and 2.9GW🇮🇹 3. A new revenue structure for Europe: In August, we signed a pioneering seven-year tolling agreement with Shell Energy Europe for the 100 MW/331MWh Bramley BESS. This deal offers a new revenue structure and can trigger new opportunities across Europe 🇬🇧 4. A perfect match: In October, we brought the team at Penso Power even closer, acquiring the remaining shares in the business. As a combined entity, we benefit from world-class engineering, project delivery, commercial and business development capabilities 🤝 5. Powering up: In October, together with Ingrid Capacity, we inaugurated the largest unified battery storage portfolio in the Nordics, bringing online 14 large-scale facilities with a total capacity of 211MW/211MWh 🇸🇪 6. BW ESS and ACL Energy announce a significant expansion of our #BESS development pipeline in Italy. Watch progress unfold on our 330MWh Bramley project in Hampshire, UK 🇬🇧🔋   BW ESS visited Bramley with our partners Shell Energy, Penso Power Limited, and Sungrow Power Supply Co., Ltd., hosted by Ethical Power. It was an opportunity to come together to learn how one of the most advanced long-duration batteries will power the landmark 7-year tolling agreement with Shell 🤝   Expected to be ready in Q4 2024, Bramley’s capacity can meet the average daily power needs of 44,000 UK homes 🏠.
