Reports on treatment characteristics and long term outcomes for severe burns are scarce, while the need to compare outcomes of novel treatment modalities to standard of care is increasing. The Dutch Burn Repository and Scar Registries represent a pivotal tool to analyze real-world data providing insight into healthcare utilization, treatment characteristics and outcomes in severely burned patients, guiding future development of improved treatment strategies. Among other findings: Scar quality was found to be significantly worse in patients with large severe burns compared to those smaller burns during prolonged times. Thank you Esther Middelkoop for this important work! CUTISS AG we work hard to provide solutions for severely burned patients and their well being. #treatmentforburns #regerenativemedicine #realworlddata
Last week, our latest paper was published in PLOS One: Characteristics, treatments and outcomes in patients with severe burn wounds; a 10 year cohort study on acute and reconstructive treatment This paper is important since it provides data on the impact of severe burns, on the burn victims in the first place of course, but also on health care. With these data we can try to improve the care for these patients further, with techniques that will make the highest impact on their well-being. You can find the paper here: https://lnkd.in/e2gSgyuk
