Bianca Maria Sforza brought 400'000 Ducats of Gold, but also a wealth of jewellery, which is referenced through illuminated gemstones throughout the manuscript. This book was a marvelous gift which manifested the union between two of Europe's leading dynasties and embodies the story of the proud Renaissance empress. The Duyst van Voorhout Hours contains fourteen inserted full-page miniatures painted by the Masters of the Delft Half-Length Figures. All miniatures have striking and lush burnished gold grounds.
