About us

James Clarke & Co Ltd is an independent publishing house based in Cambridge comprising of two distinguished imprints: The Lutterworth Press and James Clarke and Co. The Lutterworth Press began trading in 1799 as the Religious Tract Society and went on to become one of the UK's foremost publishers of children's books, including many original titles by Enid Blyton. Since the 1980s we have published high-quality non-fiction by distinguished authors, including Sir David Attenborough widely popular Zoo Quest series and several books by Sir Patrick Moore. James Clarke & Co, founded on Fleet Street in 1859, became well know for Christian World Magazine which was widely circulated in the early part of the 20th century. Having become associated with The Lutterworth Press in 1984, James Clarke & Co continues to published discipline-leading academic and reference works in theology and philosophy.
