Info
The Energy Science Center (ESC) aims to facilitate the deployment of an environmentally friendly, reliable, low risk, economically viable and socially compatible sustainable energy system. The ESC enhances cooperation between ETH Zurich, industry, government, and society on energy related issues, offering a platform for nourishing the exchange of information between the engineering sciences and the social sciences as well as for directing joint projects. The ESC synergistically combines key expertise in various disciplines to address large-scale problems successfully and to form flagship projects. These programmes will be large, financially intensive projects that have a visibility far beyond ETH Zurich and should promote energy research to a large extent.

ETH Zürich spin-off RTDT Laboratories AG has developed #Aerosense, an innovative hardware-software solution that optimises #windturbine design and increases efficiency of wind turbines. Originally designed for predictive maintenance, Aerosense now helps manufacturers as "digital doctor for wind turbines" enhance the aerodynamics of rotor blades and reduce material costs – a game-changer for sustainable energy production! 🌬️ 🔗 Read the portrait about the spin-off below at https://lnkd.in/ecKFEPNE #windenergy #innovation #sustainability
Most wind turbines are actually overdesigned in terms of material use. The ETH spin-off RTDT has a solution. With the help of an intelligent plaster for rotor blades, the spin-off is improving the turbines’ electricity production and performance. https://lnkd.in/ecKFEPNE Text: Walter Schmid Mentioned: TECHNOPARK® Zürich, Imad Abdallah, ETH Entrepreneurship

🚗⚡ We are excited to share our latest paper, "Transforming decentralized energy systems: Flexible EV charging and its impact across urbanization degrees." This work was co-led by Linda Brodnicke and Febin Kachirayil and explores the role of flexible electric vehicle (EV) charging strategies in optimizing energy systems across rural, suburban, and urban settings. Our findings reveal that flexible charging—such as smart charging and vehicle-to-grid (V2G)—can significantly reduce stationary storage needs, particularly in rural and suburban areas with abundant wind power. In urban areas with more solar energy, V2G enhances self-sufficiency and lowers storage requirements. We’re excited to contribute to the ongoing conversation on sustainable energy systems and EV integration! 🌍🔋 Read the full paper here: https://lnkd.in/eSD-FHgG Congratulations to all co-authors!
