📢 UK Government Announces Changes in Carried Interest Taxation Following the eagerly awaited Autumn Budget announcement, UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves outlined changes to the taxation of Carried Interest within the UK— adjustments that many in the industry had been anticipating. 1️⃣ Increase in Capital Gains Tax applied to Carried Interest The Chancellor has raised Capital Gains Tax (CGT) rates applied to Carried Interest from 28% to 32%, as of April 2025. 2️⃣ Proposal for Future Reforms Starting in April 2026, the government has outlined a proposal for future reforms that would reclassify Carried Interest as trading profits, thereby subjecting it to income tax, albeit at discounted rate (effective tax rate in the mid-30's), as well as National Insurance Contributions. The government will also consider changes to eligibility criteria. Any changes are subject to consultation. #CarriedInterest #Taxation #UKBudget #UKFinance
