Fun and importantmidterm event at our partner VAT! As Joseph Bejjani -one of our students- just put it: communication is as important as development!
At VAT GROUP, our #passion for #innovation drives everything we do. That is why we are thrilled to continue our collaboration with the ETH Feasibility Lab, led by our Head of Corporate R&D, Thomas Christen. Together with a talented team of students, we are exploring bold ideas and transforming them into rapid prototypes. 🌟💡 This week, the ETH students presented their latest work from the “VAT Exploration Lab” to our on-site colleagues. It was inspiring to see their innovative solutions in action and to have some interesting discussions. Our CEO, Urs Gantner, an ETH graduate himself, stopped by to experience their “out-of-the-box” ideas firsthand. We look forward to the months ahead and are excited to see what we can accomplish as we team up with these bright minds. Here’s to shaping the world of vacuum solutions, together! 🌍🚀✨ #Collaboration #ExplorationLab #InnovationInAction #RapidPrototyping

🚀 ETH Feasibility Lab x Bossard Group: A Behind-the-Scenes Look! We’re excited to share a case example from our Exploration Lab collaboration with Bossard Group, tackling a key challenge in their Smart Factory Assembly solutions. 🔧 What is Smart Factory Assembly? Bossard’s Smart Factory Assembly workstations guide workers through the assembly process with step-by-step instructions and pick-by-light indications for needed components. Central to this is the ELAM software, which enables quick and intuitive setup of workflows using a drag-and-drop interface. More info: https://lnkd.in/e4Vkv3TZ 💡 The Challenge: Simplify and speed up the setup of ELAM workflows—reducing customers' entry barriers to Bossard’s Smart Factory Solutions. 🎯 Our Solution: Leveraging AI, our team developed: PDF Converter: Extracts assembly steps from written instructions. Video Converter: Creates workflows directly from assembly recordings. 🎥 See It in Action: Check out the video to see how we’re transforming manufacturing workflow setup! 🤝 Big Thanks: To Bossard Group for this amazing collaboration and to our students for their ingenuity. Together, we’re making smart manufacturing smarter. Leon Nachtrab Stephan Geisser Jean Verstraete Yanik Schwab Daniel Gisler Urs Güttinger What’s your take on AI-driven innovation in manufacturing? Let’s discuss! 👇

Günther Dissertori, the Rector of ETH Zurich, gave us a major shoutout during ETH Tag 2024! 🏆 Very motivating to have the support from the ETH leadership, in particular also from Vanessa Wood and Jeannine Pilloud. To our current students & partners - Bühler Group Bossard Group VAT GROUP and V-ZUG - let's make the Rector's promise of "schnellere Innovationen und weniger Risiko" a reality! Here's what he said (English translation): "ETH Professor Mirko Meboldt brings students together with companies to test their innovation ideas in a so-called real lab. Students and engineers jointly develop simple prototypes that model industrial processes intended for change. The students learn to work in teams on real projects and to find creative solutions. For companies, this means faster innovations and less risk, and Meboldt’s research flows directly into practice. With our reform, we aim to give such teaching methods a boost. I am convinced that this rapid knowledge transfer will be central in a future where knowledge becomes obsolete even faster."

Innovation demands rule-breaking. Our students don’t know the rules—they simply walk right past them. 🚀 After last year’s successful pilot of our Exploration Lab program with the Bühler Group, we’re back—BIGGER, BOLDER, AND READY FOR MORE! This year, we’re launching a larger, more ambitious iteration partnering with the four forward-thinking companies Bühler Group, Bossard Group, VAT Group and V-ZUG. For six months, our team of 20 innovators (6 ETH facilitators and an interdisciplinary team of 14 Master’s students from ETH Zürich & ZHdK Zürcher Hochschule der Künste) will work with the companies to rapidly turn their innovation ideas into validated prototypes. Bühler Group Hosting us in their Innovation Campus Cubic in Uzwil—home of the fantastic Bühler Makerspace.
