Today marks a crucial milestone for #HumanRights: the 40th anniversary of the UN Convention against Torture. Since its adoption on 10 December 1984, this landmark treaty has transformed how the world responds to and prevents torture. From the outset, #NHRIs have been powerful advocates for the Convention, urging their governments to ratify and implement #UNCAT. Ensuring that people can live free from torture remains a priority for all NHRIs. This #HumanRightsDay, we celebrate the changes the Convention has inspired to uphold human rights. #UNCAT40 #TortureFreeWorld
