A fragrance journey into the art of cognac craftsmanship! Last week, Givaudan Perfumery School trainees, accompanied by Master Perfumer and School Director Calice Becker, as well as Perfumer Maxence Moutte, had the privilege of visiting Martell Mumm Perrier-Jouët in Cognac, located in the South West region of France. From exploring the aromatic symphony of fresh oak and roasted wood at the cooperage to witnessing the meticulous double distillation process in action, we were immersed in the artistry that defines Martell's exceptional cognacs. The highlight? A tasting session with Martell Cellar Master christophe valtaud, where we discovered through single cru how terroir and blending techniques shape the distinctive flavors of Martell’s masterpieces. Moments like these underscore the deep connection between scent and taste, and how craftsmanship elevates both to an art form. Phil Martell, Perfumery School trainee, shared his thoughts on the experience: "Seeing the parallels between creating a perfume and crafting a cognac accord was truly inspiring. Both rely on precision, artistry, and a deep respect for raw materials - it was a journey I’ll never forget!" Last week, Givaudan Active Beauty brought the ‘Intentional Inclusivity’ experience to life in New York! In honour of World Mental Health Day in October, Givaudan colleagues recently took time to reflect on our mental health as well as the well-being of those around us. We hosted global webinars with experts Dr Laura David Dr. Fabienne Palmer - DClinPsych, CPsychol Smart About Health Lorraine McFall to share insights and tools, exploring how stigma, language and financial habits impact our mental well-being. Our commitment to supporting each other goes beyond the World Mental Health Day, with local wellbeing initiatives happening throughout the year.
