Closing the Loop in Prototyping: A Sustainable Approach to Innovation! Last week, we had the privilege of being part of the teaching team for the EMBA ETH Zurich + University of St.Gallen (emba X) programme during their Social Impact week along with Dr. Fabian Takacs and Stefano Brusoni. This intensive sprint week brought students together with partner organizations like Inverto Earth, KoraLabs, the International Committee of the Red Cross - ICRC, Little Scientists Switzerland, Veloblitz, FREITAG, and GirlsCodeToo. The mission was to design innovative business models that seamlessly integrate the three pillars of people, profit, and planet. Recognizing the importance of prototyping in driving innovation, we dedicated an entire day to this critical step. Students were tasked with modeling key aspects—be it a product or a service—of their envisioned business models. To elevate the sustainability ethos of the week, Anja A. Niedworok and Parinitha Mundra implemented a unique approach to sourcing prototyping materials. They repurposed “waste” from ETH Student Project House, transforming discarded items into invaluable resources for the students’ creative work. What made it even more special? No glue or tape was allowed. Students were encouraged to design prototypes that could be completely disassembled, ensuring a closed-loop system and minimizing environmental impact. This sustainable, hands-on approach not only added depth to the prototyping process but also brought a new dimension of creativity to the students’ final presentations. The students' energy, ingenuity, and commitment were truly inspiring, and their projects were a testament to the power of combining social impact with business innovation. Congratulations to the students for their fantastic achievements! We’re already looking forward to what next year will bring. #Innovation #Sustainability #Prototyping #SocialImpact #embaX #CircularEconomy #DesignThinking

We are happy and proud to have you as a certified facilitator of the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® in our team! 👏
I’m now a Certified Facilitator of the LEGO® Serious Play® methodology, with a focus on sustainability! 🧩 So, what is LEGO® Serious Play®? It’s a science-backed hands-on, minds-on method designed to enhance creativity and problem-solving. It helps people engage deeply, making conversations more meaningful and productive. 💡 Why did I choose to do the training? 1️⃣ It's easier to get a team on the same page 2️⃣ LEGO® helps tackle tough topics in an approachable way 3️⃣ It’s fun, but it’s also hard work! 🌟 What excited me most about the training? 1️⃣ Storytelling matters more than building skills 2️⃣ Even a single block can represent something big 3️⃣ There’s no “right” way to build A big thanks to Lucy Hawthorne at Climate Play for the great training, and to Anja A. Niedworok and Stefano Brusoni for their support. I’m excited to bring this tool to my work in sustainability and leadership development. #LEGOSeriousPlay #Sustainability #Innovation #Leadership

The hub in collaboration with Technology and Innovation Management at ETH Zurich (TIM) was delighted to host over 20 visitors from Brazilian Cooperatives, thanks to the efforts of the Association of European Border Regions (Association of European Border Regions (AEBR)) and Jose Cruz Rodríguez. This visit aimed to strengthen connections between European and Latin American organizations across various sectors. Highlights of the visit included: Parinitha Mundra facilitated the 2030 SDGs Game, where participants reflected on their actions, revealing influences from their experiences with capitalism. Ana Procopio Schön Procopio provided an overview of the emba X programme and its social projects. Anja A. Niedworok concluded the evening by sharing research on cooperatives in the Swiss context, emphasizing their role in social innovation. Despite language differences, the discussions were engaging. Our shared passion for learning about cooperatives and making a positive impact bridged cultural gaps, with invaluable support from our translator. We're grateful for the opportunity to foster cross-cultural learning and collaboration. #Cooperatives #SocialInnovation #SustainableDevelopment #CrossCulturalCollaboration
