The 4th Annual Natural Capital Summit sparked meaningful discussions on the intersection of nature and finance. Here are some thought-provoking insights that sparked engaging conversations: 🔑 Is the challenge the availability of biodiversity data, or does it stem from the difficulty of translating that data into financial materiality, enabling investors to recognize its value? 🌏 How can we leverage lessons from embedding climate risks and opportunities into financial strategies to accelerate the integration of nature finance? 🔗 What steps can be taken to align reporting standards across climate and nature to ensure consistency and enable meaningful disclosures? We’d like to thank David Craig and City & Financial Global for hosting such an insightful event! #NaturalCapital #Sustainability #Biodiversity #SustainableFinance

Yesterday, Inrate’s Responsible Shareholder Group (RSG) met for our annual meeting at the Marriott Hotel in Zurich. Together with my colleagues David Mondl, Marie Froehlicher and Christophe Volonté, we reviewed this year’s engagement season, which saw companies making significant progress. 🔍 Key Achievements in 2024: • We engaged with 95 companies this season and observed improvements in 75 out of 345 KPIs we assessed. • Notable progress was made on two key topics: Scope 3 GHG emissions and sustainable products and services, driven by engagement dialogues and growing external pressures from legislators and stakeholders. • 9 engagement objectives were successfully achieved in 2024, reflecting our target-oriented approach and monitoring over time. We were also joined by Holcim, who shared valuable insights on their decarbonization journey. Their guest input highlighted the challenges and opportunities of transitioning a “hard-to-abate” industry toward greater sustainability. The session offered our RSG members a unique perspective of a company’s approach to reducing their GHG impact and addressing their negative impacts on nature. 📊 Stay tuned for further insights in our upcoming Engagement Report 2024, where we will share more detailed findings and outcomes from this engagement season. #ESG #Engagement #Sustainability Diego Donati Alexandra Finkestein-Feller

COP29 is being hailed as the "Finance COP," with the spotlight on mobilizing catalytic finance toward climate and nature. As COP29 nears its end, here are some insightful reports that our team found particularly engaging: 1️⃣ The Great Enabler - https://lnkd.in/e76d9jNq A collection of insurance solutions powering $10 trillion in climate finance. This report by Howden explores how insurance de-risks investments, lowering the cost of transition finance. Despite its potential, these solutions are often underutilized, as they’re integrated too late in project planning. 2️⃣ Road to COP29: Transition Today - https://lnkd.in/drq6ykpj Mercer's update offers a roadmap for investors to support climate transitions across portfolios. Beyond emissions reduction, it emphasizes strategies like managing physical risks, protecting natural capital, promoting circular economies, and ensuring equitable carbon budgets. 3️⃣ NGFS Report on Climate Adaptation - https://lnkd.in/e2mKEcAd The Network for Greening the Financial System underscores the critical role of central banks and financial supervisors in driving climate adaptation. It highlights the need to integrate adaptation into risk management and scale up efforts to close the adaptation finance gap. 🌟 Which of these themes resonates most with you? Let’s discuss! #COP29 #ClimateFinance #Sustainability #ClimateAdaptation #Innovation

Yes, ESG is serious business. But who says we can’t have a little fun along the way? 🎉✨ Our team recently hit the pause button to celebrate, recharge, and remind ourselves that good collaboration isn’t just for the office. From debates over dessert choices to some seriously questionable dance moves, we had a blast reconnecting outside of work. Because when the team’s in sync, the strategy follows. 🍻 #CorporateLife #TeamBonding #EmployeeEngagement

🌍 Climate data isn’t just an add-on for risk assessments anymore; it's becoming the backbone of robust portfolio management strategies. Today, financial institutions are digging deeper, using climate data to uncover specific vulnerabilities in assets and regions impacted by climate change. Going beyond a company’s carbon footprint; we need to understand how future climate scenarios might affect their operations, supply chains, and long-term viability. From localized drought risks affecting agricultural investments to transition risks in energy-intensive industries, climate data brings these insights to the forefront. Our latest blog takes a closer look at the metrics driving this shift and how investors can use climate data to make better, more resilient decisions. Join us in exploring how proactive, data-centric approaches to climate risk can drive not only resilient investments but also a positive environmental impact. 👉 Read the full blog here: https://lnkd.in/dzX5HEfQ #ClimateRisk #PortfolioManagement #ESGData #SustainableInvesting #Inrate #ClimateData

🌱 Proud to support the publication of the IFZ Sustainable Investments Study 2024! 📊 The study shares key insights into the evolving landscape of sustainable investing: 👉 Sustainable funds are experiencing headwinds for the first time in years, despite this, sustainable passive funds continue to perform well, while sustainable thematic funds are losing ground. 👉 Swiss retail banks are focusing heavily on green and sustainable products with the product category growing at an above-average rate. When advising on such topics, banks are required to provide customers with comprehensive information. 👉 Biodiversity is an emerging topic on the investment horizon. While there are initial indications that investors increasingly want to be compensated for biodiversity risks, only a few funds check investments for such risks. There’s much more to discover in the study! Thank you to the dedicated team and all the partners who made this research possible. It’s rewarding to contribute to such meaningful work. #ifzsustainability #hslu #nachhaltigkeit
