Welcome to Zeynep Dechelotte who has been appointed Esports Associate Director at the IOC, taking up her role in November 2024. In this new position, she will lead the development of #esports for the IOC, supporting and implementing the organisational strategy as set out by Olympic Agenda 2020+5. Gencaga Dechelotte will also oversee the review and planning of the Olympic Esports Games with internal and external partners.

🌍 Over the weekend, leading representatives of the Olympic Movement gathered at the 13th Olympic Summit to discuss pivotal topics shaping the future of the Olympics. Chaired by the IOC President, this summit underscored the ongoing commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and global unity. 🔔 IOC’s Audience and Consumer report reveals more than half of the world's population followed #Paris2024! The Olympic Games Paris 2024 captivated the world like never before, with around five billion people - a staggering 84% of the potential global audience - following the inspirational achievements of the athletes and the magic of the Games. 📊 Key findings from the Report : 🔷 412 billion engagements from 270 million posts on social media platforms, marking a 290% increase compared to the previous Games. 🔷 28.7 billion hours of footage viewed globally, with each viewer watching an average of 9 hours of coverage – 20 per cent more than the previous edition. 🔷 In France, 95% of the potential audience watched an average of 24 hours of coverage. The Olympic Games Paris 2024 not only showcased incredible Olympic performances, but also underlined the critical role of our media rights-holding partners and Worldwide Olympic Partners in bringing the Olympic spirit to every corner of the globe. Happy International Volunteer Day!✨ Today, we honor the incredible spirit of all the volunteers who contribute to making the Olympic Games a success. Volunteers have officially been a part of the program since 1948, but they have been around since the first modern Olympic Games in Athens 1896! Growing from 2,191 volunteers at the Helsinki 1952 Games, to 45,000 in Paris 2024. They are the heart and soul of the Olympic movement, embodying the values of excellence, friendship, and respect. To all our volunteers, past and present, thank you for your unwavering commitment and hard work. Your efforts inspire us every day and remind us of the power of collective action! 👏 🤩👏

Refugee Olympic Team to Compete at Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026! 🌍 Following a decision by the IOC Executive Board, the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026 will feature a Youth Refugee Olympic Team for the first time ever! This milestone reflects the IOC's ongoing commitment to supporting refugees and displaced people through sport. 🏅 The team will focus on selecting athletes based in Africa, highlighting the continent's significant role in hosting the Games. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the global refugee crisis and showcase the resilience and talent of young athletes.
