🇨🇭🚀 [#SwissTech] The Swiss Data Science Center (SDSC), a joint initiative of EPFL and ETH Zürich, is establishing a permanent presence at the Biopôle Lausanne, bolstered by CHF 7.5 million in funding from the Etat de Vaud. This milestone reinforces the region's position as a hub for #innovation, with the SDSC leveraging data science and artificial intelligence to tackle critical challenges in life sciences, energy, and sustainability. The expansion is set to create up to 100 new jobs in French-speaking Switzerland, strengthening the local innovation ecosystem. #Switzerland is steadily climbing the ranks in global #AI leadership, now 5th in research quality, thanks to world-class institutions like EPFL and ETH Zurich. 🇨🇭[#WhySwitzerland] EPFL has announced the construction of the Advanced Science Building (ASB), a revolutionary facility designed to support groundbreaking research in fields such as #quantum physics, #nanotechnology, #biology, #chemistry, and #materialsscience. This ambitious project will feature an innovative structure that isolates sensitive equipment from external disturbances like vibrations, electromagnetic fields, and temperature changes—conditions critical for high-precision experiments. A central "silo" mounted on springs will house vital equipment, ensuring labs maintain the lowest possible interference levels, ideal for cutting-edge research. With space for up to 600 researchers across 26 groups, the ASB reinforces EPFL's strategic goal to lead in basic science.
