In an industry where safety and transparency are fundamental, it's essential to know what goes into every production stage. Each chemical tells a story about the commitment to both people and the planet. This is why responsible chemical management is a core principle in building a safer and responsible supply chain. Swipe through and explore key chemicals involved in active wear products and their regulations 👇 #TextileSafety #SustainableManufacturing #ChemicalManagement

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are an increasing concern due to recent scientific findings and stricter global regulations. Known for their water- and stain-repellent properties, PFAS chemicals are commonly used in a range of products but are also highly persistent in the environment, with potential to accumulate in the human body and pose significant health risks. In response to mounting evidence and legal requirements, particularly in regions like California where PFAS standards are among the most rigorous, OEKO-TEX® has prioritized compliance through our STANDARD 100, ORGANIC COTTON, LEATHER STANDARD and ECO PASSPORT certifications. The certifications not only meet requirements defined in EU and US regulations but often go beyond. Testing PFAS poses unique challenges, as these chemicals require extremely sensitive detection methods, often in micrograms rather than the milligram levels typically used for other restricted substances. At OEKO-TEX®, we’ve invested significantly in our laboratories to enhance our testing capabilities, allowing us to measure both the specific PFAS compounds and total fluorine content accurately. PFAS are commonly found in items such as hats, shower curtains, rain jackets and other water-resistant textiles. However, their persistence in the environment can be particularly harmful to aquatic life, emphasizing the importance of responsible PFAS management in product manufacturing. How is your company navigating PFAS regulations? #PFAS #ChemicalSafety #EnvironmentalStandards #Compliance

On World Children’s Day, we’re reminded of our responsibility to protect children's rights and promote a healthy environment where they can thrive. By helping reduce harmful chemicals in textiles and leather and supporting responsible production, OEKO-TEX® contributes to a world where children can enjoy cleaner water and safer products. Through our certifications, we help manufacturers and brands prioritise safety, transparency and responsible production by reducing hazardous chemicals, minimising water use and improving social standards. Our OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 product class 1 is specifically designed for baby products, ensuring that textiles in direct contact with a baby’s sensitive skin go through an even stricter testing process. This includes clothing, bedding, toys or diapers, giving parents peace of mind knowing that the products their children use are safe. Every decision we make today impacts the world children will inherit tomorrow. Let’s continue to make choices that protect their future and support their health! #ChildrensRights #ListenToTheFuture #WorldChildrensDay #ForEveryChild #ProtectingFutureGenerations

Azo dyes are widely used in the textile industry for their vibrant colours and affordability. However, certain azo dyes can release aromatic amines- a group of well-known carcinogens. These chemicals pose significant health risks when in direct and prolonged contact with the skin. At OEKO-TEX®, we rigorously test for harmful aromatic amines in azo dyes to ensure they meet our strict safety standards. Through certifications like OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT we deploy greener chemistry to help your company create cleaner and safer production. 🌍💧 Why does this matter? Because when manufacturers prioritize safe chemical use, they contribute to a healthier supply chain and help minimize environmental pollution. Our OEKO-TEX® MRSL plays a crucial role in safeguarding both the environment and human health. 🌿 Our MRSL sets clear limits on the use of harmful chemicals during production, helping manufacturers reduce their environmental impact, protect their workers and create safer products. By adhering to these guidelines, companies can ensure responsible chemical management from the very beginning of the production process. With OEKO-TEX® certifications, like STANDARD 100, ORGANIC COTTON or ECO PASSPORT you’re meeting regulatory requirements, like EU REACH directive, ECHA -SVHC candidate list and POP regulation. 🌍 Let us in the comments what has been your experience with implementing the MRSL 👇 #MRSL #ResponsibleProduction #SustainableChemistry #TextileStandards #LeatherStandards

Join us from December 3rd- 5th at ISPO Munich, this year, we're spotlighting “Safer Activewear” and unveiling how OEKO-TEX® certifications safeguard against harmful chemicals in sports and outdoor apparel, ensuring health-conscious, certified textiles for all. Chemicals are often necessary for functionality like durability and water repellency, but some can be harmful. With our Modular System, we tackle these risks by identifying and limiting substances such as PFAS, Bisphenols, Phthalates, Formaldehyde, and Active Chemical Products (ACP), ensuring they’re tested and meet strict global regulations. Visit us in Hall A2 Booth 348 and meet with our experts Fanny Racine and Ramona Maurer!
