Don’t use AI in your clinical trials.
If your protocol is rubbish.
A single protocol amendment during a Phase 3 can result in approx $500,000 in unplanned expenses.
It can also increase the timeline by 61 days.
And with estimates stating up to $8,000,000 is lost PER DAY a trial runs over.
That is VERY costly.
And it’s happening, a lot.
Currently, approximately 90% of Phase 2 trials and 82% of Phase 3s experience at least 1 amendment.
So, why not use AI to improve your protocol writing?
A Swiss startup called Risklick has launched an AI for clinical trials called Protocol AI. The company claims this tool can reduce development time and costs by as much as 35%.
The AI is designed to cut down on the time it takes to come up with a study protocol. It hopes to empower experts to conduct faster, cheaper and safer trials, and is validated using 16,000 protocols with a precision rate exceeding 90%.
Protocol AI uses NLP and LLMs to analyze historical trial data, helping sponsors set variables and benchmarks, and then automatically drafts the protocol using generative AI.
Although this tool isn’t specifically tailored to avoid amendments, it can ensure faster & safer trials. And with the benefit of 1000s of data points, could ensure a more considered approach to protocol development.
