At the end of November, Peter Gisler and Tina Rosenbaum were in Dubai. As part of the official visit of #SERV to Etihad Credit Insurance (ECI) offices in the UAE, both parties discussed and exchanged best practices while aligning on the strength of this #partnership to support exporters. The visit was concluded with an official visit to ECI’s Chairman’s office, the Minister of Economy, HE Abdulla Bin Touq, who welcomed the SERV team and further elaborated about the UAE landscape being a thriving global investment destination. 🌐 Recap: 90+ Berne Union Country Risk specialists met in #Riyadh last week. New challenges demand new approaches – making the Berne Union expert community invaluable to exchange experiences and insights across any political divides. ⚖️We started with an overview of geopolitical tensions and outlook, maturing to a technical discussion on political risk modelling, and ending Day 1 with an overview of industry data and member shared experiences. ✏️ As many as 50% of the participants in the meeting had changed their political risk models in the past two years to take account of the new ways that the world is now turning. ✏️ At the same time, ECAs are increasingly seen as tools to be used in the geopolitical rivalry. ECAs continue to support national export in their demand driven ways - but are increasingly also being asked to foster new opportunities and take active part in the quest for market positions. 🏦We explored Saudi Arabia’s National Strategy and how innovations in risk-sharing can help manage exposure levels while fuelling export strategies. 🤝 Day 2 started with buzzing discussions on debt sustainability, followed by an in-depth examination of the recent Sovereign restructurings and how to deal with increasing complexity and lessons learned from the DSSI. ⚡We covered sectoral risk, with a deep dive in infrastructure, renewable energy and critical minerals. How can we structure projects to mitigate risks and keep pace with the huge global demand for investments? What did we learn from projects that encountered difficulties and what should we be aware of when assessing the risk? 🙏 Thank you to the steering committee Jørn Fredsgaard Sørensen, Shahbaz Syed, CFA FRM, Suhaib Al-Hosainy, Olga Tschekassin, Patrick Chileshe PhD, CFA, FRM, Eve Hall, Joshua Koehler and all the experts from the Berne Union and industry Giovanni Riva, Benjamin Young, Kenan Jusufspahic, Bilal Bassiouni, Neha Nangia who joined us in warm and open discussions. 🌺 Special thanks to our esteemed hosts Eng. And the support competitors from neighbouring countries receive from their ECAs like untied and domestic products.» This is how the panel session «ECA Leadership Hotseat» began at this year's #TXF Export Finance Dealmakers Assembly in Vienna.
