Info
The global SET Alliance is accelerating global efforts towards net zero by supporting the deployment of more sustainable, clean and energy-efficient solutions through servitisation. We are a multi-stakeholder platform of experts, providing step-by-step guidance to organisations interested in adapting servitisation to meet their requirements and steer through the challenges of putting it into practice. The Servitisation business model can tackle market barriers hindering the wider uptake of clean and efficient technologies around the world. The model aligns business and customer needs with circular economy principles. The SET Alliance was founded by BASE in Switzerland, and builds on the success of its Cooling as a service (CaaS) and Energy Efficiency as a service (EaaS) initiatives. Our work brings key stakeholders together. Our members are financial entities, technology providers, private and public entities, non-governmental organisations and associations interested in servitisation. Are you a business, technology provider, or financier interested in what servitisation can offer? What if we could pay-per-cooling? Cooling as a Service (CaaS) may be a game-changer for the future #SustainableCooling As the world gets hot, CaaS is emerging as a revolutionary solution for accessible, efficient cooling without upfront costs, where users only pay what they use. As the global cooling demand is estimated to triple over upcoming decades, this service could: • offer an alternative to owning cooling equipment • aims to protect thermal comfort, health & productivity globally • Could overcome barriers to accessible, energy-efficient cooling CaaS is already being implemented in countries like Jamaica, Mexico, India, and South Africa. #SustainableEnergy #FutureOfCooling Giovani Palafox-Alcantar Caitlin McElroy Philipp Trotter BASE Foundation UN Climate Change Clean Cooling Collaborative The Clean Cooling Network Read the paper: https://lnkd.in/ervrF7gR Cities face significant challenges from urban heat island effects, where built infrastructure absorbs and radiates heat, increasing temperatures compared to surrounding areas. Health risks from extreme heat are substantial, with over 70% of the global workforce (2.4 billion people) at risk of injuries and deaths annually. CaaS infrastructure, in the shape of cooling district networks could be a solution to keep cities cool and reduce the urban heat island effects. It could potentially offer an extra cooling on solution besides passive cooling techniques like shading and ventilation, which are currently being explored as alternatives to air conditioning. After 4 years of bringing the Efficiency-as-a-Service model to the European market, the EaaS initiative is releasing its end-of-project report! The #EaaS Briefing contains crucial learnings from the initiative, from stakeholders' feedback to the status of the model in three Western Europe countries, including as well key points to consider when transitioning to subscription-based offerings. All this knowledge is summarised in a unique document developed by the consortium team led by BASE Foundation and including Agoria, ANESE and EIT InnoEnergy along with partners such as The Advanced Services Group and Energy Efficiency in Industrial Processes - EEIP. The EaaS Initiative, along with the BASE's Cooling-as-a-Service Initiative, laid the groundwork for what is now the SET Alliance. We encourage providers of energy-efficient and renewable energy systems, financiers, and business managers interested in the as-a-service model and its application for more sustainable energy solutions to explore the paper and contact us to learn more! ⏩ https://lnkd.in/eqz_Dp8u
