How to make use of digital fabrication as a tool for expressing and representing personal data streams such as symptoms? Through a research workshop on data physicalization! A workshop of Basic [dataphy-viz] design through #digitalfabricated artifacts organized and taught by a squad of young design researchers Ginevra Terenghi Antonella Autuori Matteo Subet Sofia Petraglio. Supported by @swiss design network and SPEARHEAD and hosted SUPSI FabLab - Digital Fabrication Laboratory and Master of Arts in Interaction Design SUPSI.
During the week of July 8-12, Antonella Autuori, Matteo Subet, Sofia Petraglio, and I conducted the workshop "Data Physicalization Practices for Exploiting Personal Data" at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland. Participants engaged in data physicalization practices and explored fabrication techniques available at Fablab to represent their personal information. Giulia Brugnoli and the Ebe collective enriched our ice-breaking exercise with unique fabrics, while Adrien Segal inspired attendees by presenting her works and methods of realization. It was a week full of experimentation and creativity. Thank you to all participants and supporters, including the Swiss Design Network, the Master of Arts in Interaction Design SUPSI, SPEARHEAD and Serena Cangiano!
